Apilus Platinum

Hi All

I have had several treatments with Galvanic and just recently started treatments with the Apilus platnium. The electrologist said to me that with this machine there is a higher rate of regrowth compared to galvanic, because it is still thermolysis. She said this machine works best in the growing stage. Is this true?
I thought this was the wonder mention regarding minimal pain and regrowth. I do not want to go back continuously to treat regrowth.

Thank you
Yas

Galvanic is a very effective method, for sure, no argument there.

If she has just started using the Apilus Platinum, she may not yet enjoy the full flavor of what the three thermolysis modes can do for any structure of hair. With time, she will probably look back and laugh about making such a statement. In short, I disagree with her statements. Having used the Apilus Platinum heavily for five years, I can tell you that I see patterns of progress that simply awe me. Most people are 95% finished by month 12, after the first clearance and subsequent clearances are obtained. The next six months is just for small cleanups. Good luck to you!

I agree with Dee that galvanic is a very effective method.

I hope what Dee says is true and that your electrologist will figure it out. There is a huge learning curve with the Platinum. I’ve used mine nearly 2 years and am still discovering things that are improving my techniques. I am amazed at how few hairs I see on virgin growth at the second appointment.

I have said since the beginning that while a novice with a good computerized unit can likely shorten the learning curve to where they get to doing acceptable hair removal faster than they would otherwise, nothing beats a knowledgeable professional who knows how to get the most out of one of these machines. The problem with this explanation is that those people could also get good hair removal out of an onion submerged in a glass of Gatorade with speaker wire stuck into both sides of the onion.

Oops! I didn’t get to finish my earlier post - and now I cannot edit it to include:

No. It is not true. There is not a higher rate of regrowth compared to galvanic.

Ditto, for me too, Ms. Barbara. She will understand this someday.

When I was an electrolysis client about 25 years ago, the thermolysis treatment I was getting was bad. I went from one electrologist to another and only began to see results when galvanic was added to the thermolysis treatments (blend).

I have administered galvanic and blend and have seen its remarkable results as compared to thermolysis but over the years, thermolysis equipment and techniques have improved, making it rarely necessary to resort to galvanic or blend anymore.

Just the fact that your electrologist made that comment tells me that she needs more experience with her new machine. Her new equipment will give multiple needle strong competition and I suspect that old machine might end up as decorative art in the corner of her office in a year or so. Thumbs up to your electrologist who decided to take that giant step and begin exploring the new thermolysis equipment and techniques available today.

Would you feel comfortable telling your electrologist about this website? Afterall, it not only helps the consumer, it also provides lots of useful information for hair removal professionals.
