Apilus Platinum Software Update

Hello All,

It has been quite a while since I have posted here. But I do read often and I love the “support” I get from all of you since there are no professionals out in my area that I trust or look up to.

I was just wondering… has anyone done the software update on their Apilus Platinum? I have no idea how this is done. I have the cable, but… well, I haven’t had that kind of connection on my computer in… geez I can’t remember when. And, as many of you have noticed, the instruction manual is a bit lacking in… um, instructions. Not only that, but I have banned the pc from my home and we all work off of Macs. I still have a dusty PC laptop that I pull out when necessary, but, like I said, there’s no way I can get that cable into my laptop without loads of duct tape, and I don’t think that will work.

If anyone can give me a walkthrough and save me a call into Dectro I would appreciate it SO much!

Thanks in advance!

Jacqueline

My honest answer to you is that I never bothered with these updates from the web site. I never had the need to be on that cutting edge. My way of handling this situation has always been that when I send my machine in for its checkup, and possible recalibration, they do the updates on it at the mother ship and send it back to me.

It is nice that they send you a back up machine to work with, while you have your machine in the shop, and you just send them their machine back when yours comes from its maintenance visit. Of course, if you go to a convention where Dectro will be present, you can have this done overnight while you are at the convention, if the one you attend is big enough to have that support staff on hand.

Hopefully, one of our more computer savvy users, will tell us the needed info on how we are supposed to do this task in, “help ourselves mode” off the internet on the Dectro web site.

Well, I’m far from computer savvy, but I have done the update and it is fairly simple. I made a phone appointment and to be sure, I had my son nearby to help. You do need to obtain a password from Jean-Louis. I would call Jean-Louis in Santa Ana, CA at 1-888-332-8763. He will guide you through it or he may have Paschal help you through the process. You really have to go through him to get an update for the first time and then you can do it whenever on your own. You may need your serial number and you will have to find another piece of information on your platinum screen. Jean-Louis will help you find it. He’s a very nice man and he is very patient.

Thanks for the question! You reminded me that I need to get an update perhaps.

Ha ha how funny! I was just looking at my cable and wondering what I can do with it. Yes, I agree the insruction manual is lacking in information. So exactly what in the software gets updated and how often should it be updated?

Again, you would have to talk to Jean-Louis about what new updates they are offering. It may be anything from changing some energy levels to sounds made by the epilator??? He’s the expert. He can be reached at 1-888-332-8763.

For those that don’t have a cable, you can purchase a 6 foot USB-A to serial cable anywhere. Install the driver on your computer (the USB-A supplies a CD, of course).I hooked the cable from my epilator to my laptop. It doesn’t take long to update.
