Hi, I have just purchased an apilus platinum pure and will be recieving it in 2 weeks, i am very excited. I already have a gentronics machine that is 4 years old and does all three modalities and I am wondering after i recieve my new machine would i still have reason to use my gentronics. Can someone please tell me whether they kept their old machines and continue to use them as well as their apilus?
Dear Milli, always good to have a spare machine, though this does not usually fail, you can use the old machine if needed, while the Apilus is repaired. Greetings.
Josefa
Hi Josefa,
Hope you are well and thank you for your response.
Milli
Hi Josefa,
Me again ,can you tell do you use insulated probes for your apilus always and if so can you recommend a brand?
Thanks
Milli
It is always good to have a spare, although your clients will want the spare to be the same as the one you usually use.
Personally, I use Ballet Gold Probes/Needles and most often sizes 6 and 5.
I have two spare epilators, one being the Gentronics digital and the other being my trusty Sil-Tone VMC. Only once have I had to pull out the VMC while the Platinum was sent away to get a new motherboard. Epilators are very reliable, but I agree with James, it is wise to back it up with the same epilator because clients knew that there was a difference between the AP and the VMC. The VMC was still very comfortable compared to the Gentronics, though.
I use one piece ballet probes, the bigger the better. I like insulated AND gold probes.
I also bought the needles BALLET. But Spain is not easy to find the F-5 and F-6. I found another brand that makes up the size F-5. The brand is VELONA, a box here costs 22 euros (30 dollars US) a box contains 30 needles.
I never use insulated needles.
Hi Josefa.
Just a little comment here. If you ever use Synchro, it is a must to use insulated or have you found that to be not necessary!!!
Hi Dee!
The truth is that I worked very little with the slow thermolysis (Synchro) in the Apilus Platinum. My customers are much more comfortable with Picoflash.
Personally, I like slow thermolysis because coagulation occurs is much more manageable than the desecation of Flash (in fact I never used the flash on my old machine until I bought the Apilus). Then I discovered that Picoflash also can produce coagulation when the parameters are scheduled for this purpose.
As to the insulated needle, I do not see its usefulness to the depth of anagen unless you move the needle up and down during the current application, a move that would void the reasonable basis of insulation. In theory, the insulation would be much more useful in telogen, but in practice the insertions is so shallow that the insulation is outside the follicle in most cases.
Moreover, all the needles (whether insulated or not) concentrate more energy on top, but concentration is more in the insulated. I forget which is the measure of the free part of insulation , but I think it is not longer than 2 mm.
Except in the center of the upper lip and upper cheek in female, the majority of follicles require more than 2 mm to be removed.
I have to say i feel a little overwhelmed,I am going to have to learn about the machine on my own as their is no school to train here. I am very good with instruction manuals and so on but i still feel overwhwelmed when i think of all the different methods this machine offers will i know if i am using correct sort of needle, levels and time. Can you please tell me what is the best way to start learning with this machine? I am thinking i am first going to concentrate on pico flash and get comfortable with it, once i am comfortable i will move on to another method am I thinking the correct way?
Also in regards to the blend methods in this machine do you use the two handed progressive epilation method?
Thanks
The best value in insulated needles that I have found is Pristine in the UK. They also come in packs of 30. In the USA, they are far more expensive.
Hi Christine,
Thanks Christine I have looked at their website, tell me do you know if that free delivery appiles if you live outside of the UK?
I was a little confused in regards to the way they size their probes. The probes i use come in sizes like 4S example 4 meaning diameter and S meaning length but they have eg F2 what does F stand for? I am assuming the number is the length of the probe am I correct?
Do you use an apilus machine? If so what methods do you use?
Milli
Yes, the Picoflash is a very secure system to begin to familiarize yourself with the Platinum. The machine comes pre-established parameters that will give you an idea of how to begin. Also I will send you a table of my favorite parameters for each area of the face and body.
This will help warm the engine of your next flight after yourself introduce the coordinates needed to get airborne.
Hi Josefa.
You are very thoughtful. I would really really love to recieve the table of your favourite parameters this would give me a good Idea.
Once again I can’t thank you enough, you have helped me so many times.
Thank you
Milli
