Anyone have success with Lightsheer Diode Laser?

Hi, I am currently going for electrolysis on my neck and upper cheeks. results are coming out good so far
Now i want to maybe start using laser again to hit bigger areas like my chest and abdominals if i can find a facility that has a laser that is suitable for me and my skin type.

I’ve had laser done before with the alexandrite laser and results were minimal and actually stimulated some hair. I think this is cause my skin type? the laser wasn’t set to a high enough setting to kill my hair?

Now i heard with the diode laser you can treat darker skin types more effectively than with the alexadrite laser. Now in the past i have wasted so much money on laser and had no results and i was just curious if i should give it another go with a different laser that is more effective on my skin?

Now what i want to know is if the the lightsheer diode laser with the cooling tip can be effective on a male with a skin type 4? and what is an effective setting for that laser to treat actually kill hair?

Also i am kind of worried about having some of my hair stimulated, i hear this is only in certain areas. isn’t there an icing technique to help this side effect not happen and if so can someone provide it?
thanks so much

Inducing hair is only an issue on fine hair. If you’re a male, I doubt you have much of that type of hair on your chest and abs. But regardless, you should only treat patches with dense coarse growth.

Alex is a better laser than a diode, but if your skin can’t handle good settings on it, then you need a diode or a Yag laser.

Diodes are fine, but they’re harder to use. LightSheer requires using compression and not lightly gliding which some clinics tend to do. We’d need to know the spot size, which is either 9mm or 12mm (best) on LightSheer. And you shouldn’t be treated with it unless you can handle at least 25J applied with compression.

Lagirl so do you think if i use the alexandrite at the right setting it would be more effective on my skin? and if so what should i have her set it on?

Here is a picture of my skin tone

also isn’t there an icing technique I heard you talking about in other posts to help avoid hair stimulation outside the areas being treated? and is it really effective? I would like to know how to utilize this technique

The way to do this is to go in for a consultation and a sample treatment and ask what settings they want to use on the alex. Then post them here along with the exact name of the machines. We’d need to know joules, spot size, and pulse width. Then we can tell you if they’re high enough. They vary by machine so it’s impossible to recommend something without knowing even the machine name and spot size.

You shouldn’t be treating any hair that’s not coarse and dense. If you’re not doing that, there is nothing to stimulate. I personally only talk about icing for help with pain. I don’t know if I believe in it preventing stimulated growth. The only thing that can prevent stimulating fine hairs is not treating those fine hairs in the first place (and why would you if laser doesn’t work on those hairs anyway?).

Well the machine my laser technician uses is a candela gentlelase? And I know if the laser is used at atleast 14 joules at an 18 mm spot size it should be an effective treatment. I just need toknow if you think my skin tone is too dark for an effective treatment with the Alex?

I’ve already had treatments with this laser and have had not really had any results. But I think this is cause it wasn’t at an effective enough setting for my skin? Or I just need to use a different laser.

They need to test that setting and see. Skin tones are approximate, there is underlying pigment, computer screen settings aren’t the same. It’s impossible to tell over the internet. They need to test that setting and see whether there are any side effects.

OK so i had my laser technician hit me with the alexadrite gentlelase once again on my chest area. i had her set the laser to 14 joules at an 18 mm spot size. It has been a week and i have had no side effects so i think my skin can handle this setting  So should i expect to see more results with this setting then the previous lower settings she has been using on me? “she has never used an 18mm spot size on me at all since I’ve been going” so hopefully i see some results!

Yes, but this is the minimum setting that should be used. You should strive for 16J+ on 18mm if possible and your skin can handle it. If you do that, you’ll be good to go, as long as the hair is coarse of course.
