I have hair over my cheeks. I have talking about the areas under the eyes. You know the place where hair shouldn’t grow. You should have hair as high as the level of your mouth in general. The rest of your cheeks should not have hair. Unfortunately mine do (up until under my eyes) and I use tweezers, which I hate because the hairs keep coming back.
I shave the cheeks up to the height level near my mouth and the rest I use tweezers.
I am considering electrolysis, but I’m wondering if anyone here has done it for the same reasons as mine and been successful at permanently removing the hair.
Please share your story if you have.
Until or if someone shares their story with you, I can tell you that as a practicig electrologist, it works as long as you are patient and stay on a well-timed schedule to attack GROWING HAIR for about a year to 15 months. The second thing that will ensure success is partnering with a skilled, professional modern electrologist. Boost your understanding of how this all works to your advantage by reading all you can about electrolysis here on this website and www.hairfacts.com , so you will go in knowing what to expect.
Any modality of electrolysis will work. I prefer a mixture blend and thermolysis on most of my men. Galvanic will work very well, but it is slower.
I hope you get some consumers to tell about their experiences. several of our transgender posters would be the best resources of information. They are very good with sharing information.
No need to go around looking like wolf-boy for the rest of your life. A skilled electrologist can bring your permnanent relief and it is worth the sacrifice of going for several sessions over a period of a year or so.
Have you seen the movie Hancock, starring Wil Smith?
The wonders of electrolysis are on display in this film, as ole Big Willie had what you are talking about done, and it went down low on the cheeks. The idea was to give him a permanent edge up on the facial hair that was stable. Of course, when he gets the role in Hancock, he plays a person who walks around with a five day stubble, and he has no hair on his cheeks above a certain UNNATURAL line. For those who are paying attention, it is very striking. He also had his front hairline done.
I have the same problem, though the hair doesn’t come up quite as high on the cheeks. It comes up high enough to make me nervous shaving with a blade that close to my eyes.
I also get tiny whiteheads and pimples after shaving those hairs high up on the cheeks. I was talking to an electrologist one day, and she mentioned they have a tendency to ingrow in that area on many people (can anyone confirm that?)
James, interesting, I had no idea so many male celebs had some electrolysis. I read somewhere that Frank Sinatra had his entire beard removed (sometime around his late 50s) to look younger, ever heard that one?
Oh yeah, it was very popular with celebs of that age. Bob Hope has a personal electrologist who was a standing part of his entourage. She went everywhere he went. Bob wanted only the hair on his head to remain. When anyone asked, he would say something like, “Would you want to shave with the water in Guatemala?”
Dee, Oh My God you are an electrologist!!! That’s so great to hear. It’s nice of yo to give advice as a professional. You said it will probably take several sessions over a period of 12 to 15 months. May I ask a question on that? I know it might be difficult for you to answer because each person has different case, but in general how much is “several sessions over a year to 15 months”? Is it 2 timea a month? The reason why I’m asking is because I’m a university student and I wouldn’t want to walk in class with weird looking cheeks after a session. But let me say that I truly appreciate your response. I am very grateful to you.
James W. Walker VII, CPE thank you for the info. I didn’t know that.
Your experience will depend on how you and your practitioner go about the work. The people I see, usually want to get full clearance (which on a male can take 10 to 30 hours) and then we maintain it with reclearances that take place on a schedule.
If one were working with me, we would clear it out, you would look done for about 2 to 3 weeks, and we would just reclear it either every 2 to 3 weeks, to keep you looking finished, or we would reclear the area every 6 weeks, while you shaved in between. Each clearance would take less time to perform.
Some celebrities actually talk about their treatments in interviews, and get quoted on these things in public and in print, which leaves the electrolysis provider who signed the confidentiality clause nothing but not saying who did the work.
A client came to me years back because he had read in a magazine article that LL Cool J had electrolysis on his face and he was seeking to do the same thing.
