Any opinions on the Sciton Clearscan laser vs the diode??

I went on the Sciton Clearscan website and did their demo of the sciton vs the diode and the sciton seemed to be the most efficient and effective laser. Anyone here have experiences with the sciton? Both positive and negative experiences welcome. Thanks!

never a good idea to try to get facts from someone who has invested interest in showing you one way is better than the other

Sciton is a Yag laser and diodes, like LightSheer, is a different type of laser. Which one of these you use will depend on your skin type. If you are type I-III with dark hair (especially if it’s a bit finer), then diode is better. If you’re type IV, you can possibly go with either one, although if the hair is not very coarse, diode is better. And if you’re type V and darker, Sciton Yag would be better because a diode will burn your skin at high enough settings to actually kill the hair.

I have been treated with the Sciton Clearscan. It is an excellent laser! It works better than anything else I tried on the beard. Best cooling system too, which made the pain felt when treating the beard more tolerable. If you have thick coarse hair it works great. However, it does not work as well on fine hair. For type IV skin you will not find anything better. It leaves less post treatment redness and scabbing than any other laser.

RJC2001

I think he’s looking to treat his back that has strawberry blond and some dark hair with type II skin (from his other post)…what do you think about that RC2001?

If you are looking to treat skin types I-III then clinically the best laser would be a Alexandrite Laser which only 2 companies make. Candela and Cynosure. The biggest difference is candela uses cryogen and has a fixed pulse width, while Cynosure uses Air Cooling which is by far the best, safest and much less painful and also doesn’t have a fixed pulse width. They also offer a product called the Elite, which is both a 755 Alexandrite and a high powered 1064 nd:yag all in 1 box.

Hope that helps.
