I notice they tout “Permanent Hair REMOVAL” and I hve been under the impression that hair “reduction” was the approved terminology for laser.
I used to post here a long time ago when I got treatments with the “Aurora” and shared my results. I had reduction and thinning in many treated areas, but areas, especially my back have had hair return over the years. I’m sure a lot of is new growth, and am thinking once again about buying a package.
The last package I bought was at “NUVO International”, and based on the well publicized shortcommings of that chain, I consider myself lucky to have not gotten ripped off.
My question is do the “laser experts” see any improvement with the StarLux over the Aurora, and what do you think about a package of 6 treatments that offers a written guarantee for 3 years if any hair returns?
I have hair ranging from light red to dark red and type I or II skin.
Hi redhead!!! Good to “see” again. I think it’s been two or three years since you’ve been back. Now all we need is for RJC2001 to make an appearance.
Lagirl or sslhr will offer more information later, most certainly, but until then, type in StarLux in the search box at the top right if you haven’t done so already. There appears to be many posts that may help you out.
Hi Dee, I did take a look before I posted, and didn’t find any real solid experience in previous threads. I see a lot of recommendations to choose traditional Laser over IPL, but since I have red in my hair, traditional laser is not really an option for me. I’m really curious to know about people’s experience with this particular IPL.
I plan on going for a consultation, and will report back, but any imput right now would be helpful.
If you get hair free results that last long enough, and the center is willing to keep treating you for three years whenever you want, and they don’t go out of business, and you are happy with having temporary results, then this will work for you.
Otherwise, if your hair is red there will not be any permanent change in your hair. Period. No amount of spin or marketing will change that.
Hi sslhr, thanks for your response. Are you sure this bleak assessment for treating red hair applies to this new IPL technology? I already new this to be true for laser.
It’s not new technology. It’s basically the same thing with a marketing spin. The technology is the same. If true laser won’t work, neither will IPL. I would only try a treatment with GentleLASE, but your hair may still not get affected. I would get a test spot with high settings on GentleLASE and see if you see shedding. If the hair is truly red, neither laser or IPL will “see” it in order to kill it.
Dr Hamilton in Woodland Hills area is usually recommended here. For smaller areas, you can consult with my doctor, Dr Babapour in Beverly Hills, as well. My doctor is not as aggressive with settings (he is for me personally, but not necessarily for others) and his prices are high for larger areas. I had bikini and underarms done with him.
