I get a pretty bad reaction from Emla cream - redness that lasts for at least a week. Are there any alternatives to it? Thanks!
How do you know the redness is from the emla itself and not from the electrolysis treatment on the area? If the emla is making you stay red for at least a week, there’s something a lot more serious going on (like a skin allergy or something), in which case, there’s very little alternative since it’s one of the ingredients in the numbing agent causing that reaction which will generally be pretty standard across the different anesthetics.
Are you sure that it is from the EMLA? By that, I mean did you use the EMLA without doing any electrolysis (or laser) to see if the same thing happened?
I always had redness after electrolysis, which I attributed to the treatment. Last time, I applied Emla for almost an hour before my appointment, but there was some confusion with the booking and I didn’t have the electrolysis done. When I removed Emla, I got red rough patches on my skin that took pretty long to go away.
Now I don’t know what to do:( I can’t really stand the pain without the Emla, but I don’t think that using it is a good idea any more.
