Sorry, I’ve been reading some of the forums and I read that if the
autosensor mode is used, there will be a continuous electric current running
through the body. Is this the case when thermolysis is used.
The machine used is an Apilus Platinum. How would I know if the
autosensor is being used?
Thanks again.
If the auto sensor mode is enabled, you will not observe the electrologist pressing a foot switch. One can still use cataphoresis if thermolysis is used.
Dee thank you for the response. She is definitely using a foot switch.
Hi austingirl,
If you don’t mind me asking, who is your electrologist and how has it been going so far? How do you like your treatments?
I live in Houston and am looking for an electrologist.
Have you tried International Beauty Center in Houston? Christine Navarette is
supposed to be very good.
I went for a thermolysis treatment today with an electrologist who uses the Apilus senior II. I could hear my hair singe a lot of the times. Is this normal? She said she did a multiplex treatment and used a probe 1IB and heat 36.6 (twice).
austingirl,Christina is traveling and not in the country at the moment. Have you tried her as she has an office in Austin as well.
The singe sound is not really a good sign. I guess the best way to put it, in my opinion would be to say that it means the treatment parameters are not optimal, either the energy could be reduced or the probe size could be increased.
That said, it doesn’t necessarily mean you got a bad treatment either… as long as most of the hairs were pulling out easily and your skin reaction was ok.
The sound is actually water vaporizing into steam inside the follicle. That kind of instantaneous vaporization only occurs when temperature surrounding the probe tip is quite in excess of the boiling point of water, 212F. The temperature required to coagulate the follicle cells is only around 160F, so you can see why that sound means that energy could be reduced.
Thanks t4ngent for your response. I think your right.
Right after the treatment- I felt great, the skin was slightly pink For an hour and I got a few pin point scabs the next day. The electrologist had done 50-70 hairs on the face and came highly recommended. It iwas only after reading about the crackling sound on this forum, I started getting a little worried.
What it felt like to me was the hair was being singed off in the middle, I.e kind of breaking; so when it came out, it wasn’t the entire hair. In the middle of my treatment, I asked the electrologist if the hair was coming out easily and she said that sometimes it just came out with the probe when she took the probe out. That’s why I think the hair was breaking, but I could be wrong.
Thanks
