Am I too late to continue treatment?

I’ve had about 5 treatments and it seems to be working somewhat, but the hair is starting to grow back now since last session and I haven’t booked another treatment. (Man’s back treatments)

It’s been a little over 6 weeks.
The reason is I am on another continent now and am not sure where to find a good laser place. How many more weeks do you think I could wait before getting my next treatment and still have it be effective?

It doesn’t matter how long you wait it will still be effective. Going to soon between treatments is when it becomes an issue so don’t worry. If you’re really concerned that you want the hair to be in the correct phase, you can always wax it then wait for it to fully grow back and then go for a treatment at a new place.

Probably at about 8 weeks it’s good to have your next one.

I’m more concerned with the fact that you say “it seems to be working” after 5 treatments. That’s a lot of treatments. You should see a better result than that. You also shouldn’t need treatments more than once every 8-12 weeks. At this point, after 5 treatments, definitely 12.

  • Is your hair COARSE and dense?

  • Do you see it all shed within 3 weeks after EACH treatment?

  • What machine and settings are being used? What’s your skin type?

  • What country are you in? They have lasers in many places nowdays.

Thanks for helping out all!

My hair was coarse and dense, I don’t know anymore since it never grows back enough to really tell before I have my next treatment, but it seems finer now.

I think I shed it all after each treatment, except one of them (the third).
With that one they turned down the power a bit because they were worried about damaging my skin… even though it was the same setting used as before. Anyways, it seemed less effective that time.

The laser was alexandrite epitouch with 32j/cm2 strength being used. I have fairly dark hair, and I think skin type II.

I’m in a country with lasers (Belgium). I just need time to find a reputable place in the area and I haven’t had a lot of time.

You shouldn’t come in for treatments until there is enough hair to justify one. So you would know better what reduction you’re seeing if you wait longer.

Ask for spot size and pulse width used as well.

And yes, no reason to decrease settings if your skin was fine with the original ones.

The only other stats I have are that it is 7mm lens and pulse duration 30.

My back is getting fairly hairy again now. How much reduction would one expect after 4-5 treatments?

7mm spot size is pretty small.

Reduction depends on quality of treatments as well as proper spacing. If you had treatments every 6 weeks, it was too early, so you really only affected as much hair as you would have in 3 treatments.

Generally, you should be at around 50-70% reduction after 5th treatment.

Also, consider that only coarse hair is removed. Finer hair will grow back.
