Alexandrite vs. Diode

I have very very light skin and dark coarse hair on my legs. Diode didn’t work for me. It killed some hair but mostly just patchy areas and I have a ton of hair left. I heard Alexandrite lasers work better for light skin and COURSE hair than the diode.

also the place I used to go to sucks. they used an IPL on me on my last session because another patient was in the room with the diode.

I wasted so much money on unsatisfactory results. I didn’t buy a package treatment up front. if you do, you get 2 years of free hair removal after the 6th session. Since I was paying per treatment I don’t get that. I feel so ripped off.

so I found a place that uses the candela gentlelase alexandrite laser. Do you think I’ll have better results? I heard the alexandrite lasers cover a larger surface area than the diode.

Damn, can’t believe they used an IPL on you while you were suppose to be doing diode.
IPL treatment makes it harder for the diode to get the job done, very bad combo.

Also there are experts who claim that there is a percentage in the population that diode wont work on and IPL will. They also say that diode could work on one area of the body and zero effect on other parts, same goes to IPL, and they say there is no way of knowing.

Those experts I’m talking about try to sell IPL machines so it’s possible that they say that to get people to buy IPL rather than diode.

I haven’t seen many successful IPL treatments before and i don’t recall ever seeing a diode treatment that didn’t get good results.

Of course all that info is based on my own experience, and i haven’t tried most machines out there.

Oh no! It was only one treatment though.

I think this place is just bad and thats why I want to go somewhere else and not waste anymore money. I feel like they don’t get all the hair.

Do you think I should insist they give me the warranty? I’ve ultimately paid more than if I would have bought a package up front. I’m upset that they gave me the IPL. I picked this place b/c they had diode. It’s not my fault they double scheduled and they put someone else in the diode room. Should I demand a refund or something? I didn’t put up a fuss when I was there though.

Diode can produce great results. The fact that you didn’t get them is due to their lack of skill, not the machine. Alexandrite like GentleLASE is a better machine, but that’s only part of the equation. The person operating the machine needs to know what they’re doing.

Warranties are useless. No one can guarantee you anything in this business. I would NOT buy packages. Try one treatment at the next clinic you choose and spend some time looking for the right clinic first by checking out 3-4 of them first and asking lots of questions.

IPL can also produce results. Once again, it’s a matter of skill.
