Hi there!
I use a body lotion with 10% glycolic acid (AHA) should I stop using it before I get electrolysis? And how soon will I be able to start using it again afterwards?
Thanks!

There is no contraindication to the use of electrolysis, no matter what modality is used, IIFF you were using an AHA concentration of less than 10%. Since you are using a 10% concentration, you may want to research this with your physician.
For those having electrolysis that use AHA’s, they most likely will have increased redness during and after treatment. I thought you had another question earlier in the day as well. I’ll see if I can find it.

Okay, I moved your earlier post here:
[color:#000099]"I’m glad I found this thread. I’m 22yr old female and I had IPL for hair removal on the upper arms (it was really fine, shouldn’t have got it done) and now have medium thickness hair there that was induced by IPL.
I’m seriously considering getting rid of it by electrolysis. I’m worried about the marks it’ll leave though, because my wedding is mid-April! I’ve had electrolysis on a couple of hairs under my chin and have been happy with the results, but because I can’t really see the area I’m not sure how long the marks from electrolysis lasted.
My questions:
How often can I do an electrolysis session? Isn’t sessions two weeks apart too soon?

Thank you!"

I already answered the last question about AHA’s. As for your first question, electrolysis can be performed every week. I don’t work on the same area sooner than seven days so as to allow the area to heal well. I do long appointments, defined as greater than an hour, but not more than seven hours. It has to be done correctly with a computerized epilator. There’s more to this, but I can’t possibly go into more detail, but I can only assure it can be done. There are many electrologists that have the right set up, skill and education to do this and there are the ones that don’t. All you need is the skill and instinct to find a modern electrologist that fits your needs. Electrolysis performed with quality tools and strategies is not only for small areas - it is definitely can be a wonderful option for large areas as well.
