After 7 Sessions I have NO Permanent Reduction?

Thank you for taking the time to read my post. Any unbiased advice you can provide is greatly appreciated.

I have had a total of 7 sessions on my chest, stomach and arms using the Soprano Xl (spaced 6 wks apart). During the treatments I noticed a significant reduction in hair. Unfortunately, it has ALL grown back (it took a few months for all the hair to grow back)?

FYI…I have light skin and dark hair.

I was told at another laser clinic that I had poor results because of the laser the was used. They suggested trying the Coolglide laser every 6-8 weeks (7 sessions in total). Will I get good results using this laser? and should I have it done every 6 or 8 weeks?

The other lasers that people have recommended are the Alexandrite or the Light Sheer. Please help before I waste more money.

A photo would help assess your situation.
Doing treatments every 6 weeks apart was on the early side. 8-12 weeks is better for body hair. Another issue is the Soprano machine which is a diode-laser just like the Coolglide. And the third reason is poorly trained technician that might have under-treated you the whole time. At this point I would wait longer for hairs to cycle through and see if more regrowth happens. Did your hair grow in finer or a little sparser at all? If you still want to try laser route, I would strongly advise you to find Alexandrite laser which is a true laser and best for lighter skin types, but again you have to be treated with stronger settings. Or consider electrolysis option which is guaranteed to work on any hair.

Light skin and dark hair- too subjective. What’s your ethnicity? Can you post a picture?

Look for Fitzpatrick skin type chart online and find out what your skin type is. If it is III or lower, look for an Alexandrite laser preferably GentleLase or GentleMax or Cynosure’s Alexandrite lasers.

LightSheer is also a good diode laser too but it is difficult to use so technician skill is more important. Plus, it doesn’t work on fine hair.

Soprano, which is also a diode laser, seems to be getting only bad reviews here.

CoolGlide is a decent YAG laser which would work fine on coarse hair. GentleYag is a better YAG laser. YAGs are usually used on skin type IV and higher.

You should treat trunk hair every 8-12 weeks.

No, don’t bother. If you had absolutely no results after 7 sessions, no matter how far apart they were spaced, then no laser is going to do the job. But, that’s my opinion. Check out my thread - ‘Diary of an Australian Boy’. It may help.

I am imagining that you would have seen better results if you had used a better LASER, used by a skilled laser specialist, with treatments spaced out every 8-12 weeks. For best results, your hair should be coarse, dense and dark. The chest area is one area that should respond well. Can you upload a few quality pictures?

I had wondered if it was possible to do this out of town. If i was to get started on side burns area how often could you expect to book travel. Can i wait say 3 months between sessions and still expect it to work well??

Yes, you can wait.

Thanks dfahey, i mean for electrolysis…

If you get a good thinning or clearance on your sideburns, you won’t lose advantage if you have 3 month gaps in between electrolysis appointments.
