After 3 ...

As promised, here are “before & after” photos of a client. Fellow started with the first clearance (ending on) May 31. He had three clearances at the appropriate time intervals (at about every 3 months). Today we started the “clean-up” of the remaining (missed) hairs. Actually, I didn’t do all that well; I expected much less hair to show up. But, there it is. The clients seem happy with the results. I’m just “reasonably okay” with the job.

Photo shows redness on his right shoulder because I already started zapping those miserable hairs. I hate hairs. His TTT (total treatment time) at this point, for his back, was 90 hours (this is also more than expected). Lots of fine “undergrowth” on this case. (He spent $6,300 on the back. I’m probably not going to charge him for the “clean-up” because I think he has spent enough on this already.)

I think it’s interesting that the skin itself looks less “irritated” now that the hairs have been dispatched. Presumably the “resting hairs,” that can become tiny points of irritation, are gone … so less “nastiness” overall. THAT makes me happy … but that’s about all. This is neither a “hit or a miss,” just sort of “oh well.”

Oh, the “job” also included the shoulder and upper arms (not just the back) … 90 hours for the TTT. (I also made a typo, should be: “The client seems happy with the results.”

Amazing! I wish you lived in Europe!

I wish I lived in Europe too!
(Back to my G’parent’s home: Roma!)

That is beautiful.

Michael, I find it difficult to make comments that are honest with you because you don’t like to be complimented and it makes you sick …so grab your barf bag:)

If I was this man with this back I would be through the roof with joy over the results of this treatment. Talk about a new lease on life! I almost cry looking at that photo.

As one who had a tiny amount of eyebrow hair plucked for about two years with little results by a "professional " zapper, and all the efforts in the search just to find a zapper, since being inspired by this forum, and those that I’ve seen after far flung travels, for the hours spent that have worked on a minuscule amount of hair on my sideburn area and not even anywhere near the available hair on my face but SO much less than a back and as yet it is still only a fading hope that this is a possibilty!

What can i say? I feel like I’m trying to cross the Atlantic Ocean on a tiny handmade raft of sticks, and when I see these photos of an enormous back with tons of hair gone from you, from Josie, Dee,etc. it’s like watching an enormous golden ocean liners sailing top speed, right past me in my little raft. I know professionals like you are out there and it looks like a mirage ,but I hear once again about the elusive 3 clearances, and i see the huge amounts of hair cleared but man alive are ones like you few and far between in this vast sea !

Good for Asians for recognizing your talent and being smart enough to get you onboard and to learn, duplicate, improve and offer a refuge for the hairy !
Do you have your barf bag yet ? Or maybe you’d better put your head in the fancy Asian toilets and get ready, because just as you confess that you can’t help but be someone who shares your information( which I applaud strongly) I am someone who can’t stop myself from communicating my honest experience, feelings damn whatever the consequences, my truth is told… so here goes …because I also want to say that you look very handsome in the photographs from Asia! For someone that has been often referred to on this forum as an “old geezer” , well it is obvious you sure are doing something right ! Ok thats it…
Meanwhile back in Canada, out in the Atlantic ocean, I really need to keep paddling this F-ing raft cuz these waves are huge…not an island in sight, and oh man i really need a shave :)…good thing there is no one around who can see me!

Well, you did make me chuckle a bit Danika. (To Hairtellers: I have had several wonderful private emails from this sweet girl!)

The thing is, a lot of clients do seem to go through this “odious odyssey” before landing on the right electrologist. SO much money and time wasted! Still, I’m NOT the “right one” for every type of situation.

I totally “suck” at fine facial hair; so bad, I won’t even start such a case. Dee Dee, on the other hand, RIPS through this work like a “jet on steroids.” She has all the “right stuff” and I don’t! So, it’s all about finding the right person for your particular situation. Don’t be afraid to ask!

Patients never ask me “what cases do you do best” … but, I tell them. All of my “fuzzy face cases” are sent over to Karen Stathis who does a fantastic job. For me, it’s body hair, and the bigger the better. After all these years, I still get a kick out of killing those miserable rotten buggers! I hate them!

Hear, hear, Danika!! My stick raft is sailing behind yours and now has sprung a leak. :frowning:

Still paddling along…

[color:#3366FF][font:Arial Black]Oh, thanks for the kind reply ! Well, I’m glad you chuckled , that is so much more fun than up chucking :stuck_out_tongue:

The “odious odyssey” pretty much sums it up. UGH. And time / money wasted OH YEAH. Along the way I’ve met ALL kinds and put my face in their ((OMG)) hands! Ive entered some some dark dingy basements whispering a hope and a prayer, one zappitista who had become a friend after years of expensive eyebrow plucking would not even share the name of the machine she was (mis )using ! There was the HIGH priced fancy franchise with their “exclusive” technique you must adhere to to get result$$$, a well meaning women with very shaky (and dirty, ungloved ) hands, no sterilization and an antique machines that cut out in the middle of an insertion … …you can picture me running fast down the street after that experience  …i could go on…

and every single one was not aware of this forum and only ONE had any awareness of the “3 clearances” mentioned so frequently on this site…

I’m thinking about writing a book, or a movie…(if I ever get to shore   Hmm what would be a good title? A Hair Raising Tale of the True House of Electrocute sis 2013.

I SO MUCH PREFER the up front and blunt approach to what one is or is not good at. THAT i can handle ! Speaking of dee spiked up jets ,Ive have actually staring longingly at a map of ohio lately. Of course after these long winded paddles I am quite travel weary at this point and travel intense clearances are not as much fun on the face…i imagine…

Ha ha Animika! I think I see you W A Y out there…oh yeah and it looks just like a little stubble girl from here …heave ho ! keep paddling…land ahoy…or maybe by the time we make it to Zapper island we will get old enough that no one can even see the hair cuz we all need bifocals!

Wait , Captain ! ( oh thats me!) westward ho…I see Laurier Point…if i just keep paddling and there are no big waves…what’s this ?!! Mantaray’s missing in action and FLYING FISH !! Where the hell did those come from ??!

Wow Danika, I love your writing. I especially love the “Zappitista” term. You made my day! Good laugh for me all day. (Yeah, I’m easily amused.)

My best writing is not here . Did you catch the MAntaray part? I hope i am not digressing from the great back of this thread …but wheres he? Seems to have swum afar. I miss him here

Back To your back Michael I’ve been searching for the information you gave on posttreatment care

Wow!

Michael, out of interest, how many hours does it take to clear such a back once?

First clearance: 50 hours (May 31)
Second clearance: 27 hours (September 8)
Third clearance: 13 hours (January 3)

“Follow up” (Right now, I’m getting the missed hairs, March 15 -): about 6 - 8 hours total. I’m not charging the client for this “follow-up,” because he required more time than I had estimated.

After this, I expect only a handful of hairs, or none at all. After this point the client usually cannot find hairs and the job is “done and permanent” for the rest of his life. (Electrolysis CAN do this!)

Total elapsed time: about 10 months. Total time: ±98 hours (This guy came in about 20 hours more than my average.)

Really nice work Michael!

I like your system of estimation much.

Michael is usually very successful in his estimates, not like me. Sometimes we need more time, sometimes we have to spare, and sometimes almost nailed estimation time. Eh, Johnson? We nailed almost time for your hands.

Hey Jossie,

Well, I’m not all that accurate (but I try … and so do YOU!). Still this is not such a difficult task, i.e., doing estimates that are “pretty close.” Electrologists can simply go through their own records and figure out their own averages: I start there. After awhile you begin to see a pattern from which to make an initial “guess.”

Then, the next aspect of doing an estimate is to actually work one or two hours on the person. I measure the area completed (in those 1 - 2 hours) and then compute the area of body coverage (factoring in density changes) to get another “rough idea” of the total.

If the person gets to a “first clearance,” then I can pretty much “nail it.” As you can see by my above example, each subsequent clearance is about half the time of the last clearance. (To be on the safe side, figure “4 clearances,” although 3 are typically what most people require.)

Funny thing is that most clients don’t seem to care about being accurate on estimates. They are really happy, however, to see a steady and unambiguous march to their goal: permanent hair removal by electrolysis. If you can predict the outcome of each clearance (and even when the various side-effects will show up and go away), then you really establish confidence in the procedure.

Patients only want to know one thing for sure: that you are going to deliver, and that you are “on top” of the treatment; with no surprises.

Michael - absolutely amazing result, and I apologise in advance for hijacking your thread in this way, but…

Josefa - I’m not sure if you remember, but I sent you a message on here a while ago about setting up an appointment with you in Malaga…you suggested I mail Martha - I mailed her in Feb and again earlier this month but haven’t heard anything back. Not sure I have the right address? I used bess_er@hotmail.es

Could you let me know how I can set up an appointment with you and your skilled hands?! Feel free to private message me on here.

Michael - apologies again for the mini-hijack!
