Afraid to shave

I have had trouble shaving myself since puberty. My mom has helped me with it most of my life, and I think like, that I’m weird because of it. It could just be in my head.

Anyways, I have a touch of OCD, it’s not major but it’s like if I shave I get really obsessive about it…like making sure each little hair is gone sort of thing. So I’m wondering if you have any suggestions about this. It’s also rather hard for me to get the technique right…like to get my shins, and armpits done.

I never really talked to anyone about this cause it’s rather embarrassing, however it seems this forum would be a good place to ask about it.

Hi Violet

It’s not really difficult having trouble shaving. Just look at mens products to make it easier for us. It’s great your mom helps you deal with the issues. Remember not every hair comes out every day. Shaving takes a lot of work and dedication. Time works well, but don’t fall prey to quack remedies often offered.

I would suggest a post to James W. Walker who is a professional in hair removal. He may be of great help. I have also found RJC2001 to assist me a lot in my issues. Maybe try these people and you will find the help you require.

Kind Regards
Stuart

thanks

best way to shave:

  1. use a 3 or 4 blade razor like Venus or Mach 3
  2. use only shaving GEL, not cream
  3. soak the area for 10 mins in warm water
  4. shave against the grain

if you want to remove the hair permanently, you may want to start reading the electrolysis and laser forums. if your skin is light and hair is dark and coarse (like underarms), laser would be a good option. of course, you need to commit to this and have the money to do it, although underarms can be done in as little as $300 in some places.

Hi violet-Yosie

Your most welcome.
