Advice on Insualted probes

I’m thinking of moving exclusively to insulated probes, but I have a few qualms which I hope you can address.

  1. In the past I have worked with the now retired Laurier insul. Probes, which showed clearly where the uncoated probe ended, are there modern probes where you can see that?

  2. I do prefer one piece probes, but ballet seem to be the only makers of insul one piece, am I wrong?

  3. Lastly, I’m wondering which probe has the largest uncoated length, as I’m looking to get the bulge & root simultaneously & not in two motions as with shorter ones.

I would appreciate comments!

Adding my comment here since I’m also considering how I can use insulated probes more for facial work. I find it’s more common for electrologists here to use regular stainless steel.

I’m not sure that any modern brands make a point of distinguishing between the insulated and uninsulated part of the probe, but I think you might be able to see a feint difference in some lighting. I remember being able to see the insulation on the Ballet probe, especially when it started to flake off while in use.

The only accessible brands with insulated, from my point of view, are Ballet, Sterex and Pro-Tec. The only one-piece insulated is sold by Ballet based on what I can tell.

In my experience, the Ballet didn’t make any difference on shallow hairs because the insulation didn’t reach low enough, though I would be happy to try again to see if the results are the same. I think Pro-Tec also offers a half insulated probe for blend.

I’m interested to see how you go since I’ll also be looking to try Sterex and Pro-Tec to see the difference.
