Advice needed - going on consultation

Hi everyone! I have a consultation scheduled at a plastic surgeon’s office to find out about their laser hair removal. This is a respected doctor’s office (my friend had a breast reduction performed by him), but from what I understand, a nurse or aesthetician operates the laser for the hair removal. My consultation is scheduled for Wednesday afternoon, and this will be the first time for me. Can any of you please provide some insight on what kinds of questions I should ask? Oh, and in case it matters - the area to be treated is the face - I have PCOS. Thank you for any advice!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

And by the way, I have very light skin with freckles, and the hair is dark and coarse. Thanks!

is your PCOS controlled? you need to be on medication for a while to get it under control before it makes sense to get LHR. If you don’t, your body will keep developing new hair even if you kill what’s currently there with laser, so you won’t really see a difference.

I recommend to do your research on these sites first before you go in for treatment. You’ll get a much better idea of what to ask and how it works that way, plus you’ll be a better judge of whether the person knows what they’re doing. Check out the sticky thread at the top of this forum to start. There is also a consultation form if you search for “consultation form” using the search feature.

Lastly, they don’t teach hair removal in med school. You need to find someone very experienced in hair removal in particular rather than a doctor or someone who’s good at any plastic surgery procedures for best results. someone who used to be an electrologist or who does electrology at the same time (and been doing it for a while) for example is a good person to see for this reason. You need someone very familiar with hair growth and how to best kill hair.
