Acne post laser treatment?

Hi, I’ve had laser treatement on my back and shoulders in the past (with no permanent success) and it stimulated new hair growth so I’m actually worse off than when I started. The treatments did, however, stop the hair from regrowing for about 5-6 weeks, but during that time, I would also get a small, but noticable, amount of back acne which I believe to be a result of ingrown hair.

I think it was caused by ingrown hairs because I haven’t had a treatment in several months, my hair has fully regrown, and I’m now acne free.

Is acne a common side effect? If so, is there prevention or treatment for it?

I’d like to know because I want to re-continue treatments for the summer but am scared about acne breakouts again.

Thanks

How many treatments have you had? Are you maintaining a treatment schedule?

Are you having acne or white pustules breakout on your back?

If your prone to ingrown hairs post treatment, there are products available to help alleviate these type of reactions.

Acne is not a side effect of laser. Also, not everything that seems to be acne (because it’s read) is actually acne. There are various types of irritation, pigmentation, etc that can occur for various reasons.

If they’re caused by ingrown hairs, you might want to try an ingrown hair treatment such as Sally Hansen’s “Zero Bumps” or any other brand. If what you’re getting is acne, I don’t know if this wil help.

I remember reading something about salicylic acid being used to treat ingrown hairs. Since it’s also used for acne, it might be a good option since you’re not exactly sure what is causing your bumps. However, I have not tried it myself, so I’m not sure how good it works.
