A huge difference

I posted before about how I was switching electrologists. Someone had asked me if maybe the fact that I had not gotten full clearance on my face even with one year of treatments hadsomething to do with a hormonal balance or PCOS. I dont have either…well basically the reason that I didn’t get full clearance was because my electrologist was plucking out my hairs. literally yanking them out sometimes without even zapping them! so basically that’s not electrolysis …just plucking .

i’m now going to maryann gior in great neck, long island, new york. she’s awesome. first of all the machine was much newer so the zaps just felt softer…if that makes any sense. she also zaps 3-4 at a time and then slides the hairs out. my old one used to zap one, then slide it out then zap another…so it took much longer. maryann also is able to talk and be funny and keep me entertained without it interfering with the treatment. she wants to make people feel good and help them out…not really something my old electro ever mentioned. i bled for a few seconds and she said that was normal and im fine now. i have smaller scabs than i did with my old electro. i’m very pleased

i had my second appointment today. it’s so great because i dont think my electrologist even goes by time. she goes by how much we get done! she wont let me out of there until the area she’s working on looks good and clean. that’s just amazing. i mean, we definitley went over the hour and she wouldnt even let me pay her extra. i tried to but she wouldn’t have it. that’s when you KNOW someone is in there to help people, not rob their money. i have nothing but amazing things to say about her and electrolysis. i just wish i could show her my appreciation. not to sound dramatic but this woman is going to change my life.

I don’t think you’re being dramatic at all.

I’ve been reading posts here for a long time. I hadn’t been happy in a while (with my electrologist) for so many reasons.

For about a year, I didn’t see any progress. I finally changed electrologists, & I feel totally different myself.

I’ve had a total of 4 hours so far, & I already see improvements. I, too, am happy I finally switched. I feel like maybe the old me will come back.

So, good luck to you.

(If you are interested, read my post under “can electrolysis give you ingrown hair.”)

if you guys can provide your locations and names of electrologists, it can probably help others. and i’m sure they’ll love free advertising

rosedarling45-congrats! don’t u feel like it’s something you should’ve done a long time ago? i wish i had changed earlier but really had no choice before since this new one is 50 min away from me. i’ve only had 2 hours but i see more progress than i did with my old one in like two months. i read your post and it seems like things are going to get better. good luck and keep me updated

She’s great.

Donna and her girls are true “Peaches.” They are well worth the visit if you are in their area, or even if you are a little bit of a drive away.

Most of all, they care.

so i’ve done about 7 hours with Maryann Gior now. She makes you feel so comfortable and she’s such a good person at heart…she cares about all her clients. I can’t stress this enough. I’m getting more scabbing with her because my other electrologist used to pluck alot…so I hardly got any with her. I tell Maryann to do random hairs on my cheeks so that the scabbing doesn’t seem so obvious. I’m very lucky in that I have brown, Indian skin so even the scabs kind of blend in. I have a little bit of darkish red pigmentation on my right cheek because one time we concentrated just on the cheek area. The coloring does not bother me, I know it will go away, and it is a small price to have that area be hair-free. I’ve been doing electrolysis for 13 months now and haven’t had full clearance on my face (only because 11 of those months were wasted by a bad electrologist). So with Maryann I’ve been working with for 2 months and by the third month (end of August) I think I will have full clearance. I go in for one hour every week but have had to skip about three weeks due to vacation and financial issues.

Hey guys! I’m a horrible person because I do electrolysis almost every two weeks and haven’t updated my post since August. My apologies :(. Anyway, it’s really bad but I haven’t kept count of how many hours i’ve done on my face. I’m getting great results and i can go about 1.5 weeks without electrolysis and still be able to put my hair up without being embarassed by facial hair. again, to specify i use aloe vera gel from Trader Joes and witch hazel from tn dickinsons. I have also picked up an aloe vera face cream by J|A|S|O|N in Walgreens. i’m also doing my arms. On my arms i’ve had a total of 3 hours each spread out in two months. I stres…this is NOT enough. I wish i had more money and was able to do one hour a week but as of now being a student, i’m not able to afford it. However, I would recommend people who are doing their arms to go in every week because my arm hair definitley grows faster than my face hair…and the scabs take a much longer time to heal. On my face, the scabs go away within a week…on my arms they take a good three weeks. If you are absolutely anal and religious about your aftercare I’m sure you can reduce this by a little. feel free to ask me if you have any questions and if you are in the new york city/long island area definitley go to Maryann Gior, she is just great(daughter of THE Fino Gior). http://www.electrolysisinformation.com/

Sniff, I have not seen her since the 90’s
Say hello for me.

awww you should come down to long island sometime! she is one of the sweetest people i’ve ever met in my life…i will definitely say hi

Hi Rani… do you mind telling me who you originally went to—the one that did a really bad job just so people here can avoid that place.

Thanks!!!

Eva

Hi Eve…I almost feel bad to bad mouth someone publicly…even though I do want to help people out. I just don’t know if it’s good ethically to say that about someone…but I will private message you and let you know. If anyone else wants to know, I’ll send them a private also :).
