A few questions...

Hi. I’m new to the forum. This thread might be a bit all over the place so I apologize before hand! I just have a couple of questions…
Okay so, I have a LHR appointment next Wednesday for under arms and forearms. This clinic uses the soprano XL.
I then have another appointment at another clinic on Thursday for Brazilian LHR. They have Candela GentleLase and GentleYag.

I first want to know if anyone has experience with these clinics? The Brazilian place I found had a lot of reviews and pretty much all of them were great reviews. The place is super reputable. The other place I’m not so sure about. I found like 3 reviews and all were positive… These places are in Dallas, TX and here are their links:

I’m doing two clinics since I got groupings for them and you can only buy one groupon from any place and I don’t have the finances to pay thousands of dollars for laser at the moment.

I am Pakistani. So I have about skin type 4 with black hair. Anyone know if the soprano XL will be effective on me? I’m seeing a lot of mixed reviews about that. The owner of that clinic said her clients are very satisfied but I just wanna know what people on here have to say.

Does the GentleYag hurt? Especially on the Brazilian area? I’m really scared about that. I do wax there regularly so can anyone compare the pain to waxing there?

Thank you!!!

Also, does laser work on fine hair? My arms have pretty fine hair since I’ve been waxing almost every month for 8 years now…

I would think for as dark of skin as you seem to have, your only option would be a ND-yag laser. I would also say that you should consider your choice carefully because laser hair stimulation isw often reported with those with olive or darker skin tones so those fine hairs may become courser or darker.

All this said, I’m not a laser expert, but we also seem to have relatively few of those posting here these days, so I thought even a bad answer was better than none.

thanks for the reply! Is GentleYag differen from a Nd: Yag? My skin is lighter than most Pakistanis and Indians but it’s still obviously not fair skin… Yikes, coarser hair is not what I want:/ guess I’ll see the results of the first 2 or 3 sessions and see what’s happening.

as far as I know they are the same thing. You may not notice the results right away because usually the hair would shed and then grow back and this takes a while. In general laser works best when there is maximum contrast between hair and skin so darker skin tones do not work as well or at all. From what I understand, laser hair stimulation is most common in people with Indian type skin tones .
