I am a skin type 2 with dark hair having laser hair removal on arms. I have had four treatments with the gentlelase laser, first with 14j, second with 16j, third 18j, fourth 18j. Its been six weeks since my last treatment and I just wanted to ask or know if this is working because the hair on my arms is getting lighter but not killing the follicles completely, it may have killed a few im not sure its hard to tell, but I do not know whether if I didnt have anymore treatments the hair would return the same as before just as thick before I had any treatments? Basically if I continue to have treatments will the hair eventually die? does the hair keep getting lighter each time you have treatments then it gets killed off? I am having my treatments with the premier laser clinic in london, they will not stretch to 20j but not sure if that would matter anyway. Is this the reult I should be expecting at this stage?
I would sugges you read the Laser FAQ, as you will become more informed about what you should expect.
Basically after each session, you should have seen complete shedding of the area and experienced a few weeks of being hair free. The hair that sheds is dead and should not come back (unless it is fine hair)!
Then a new cycle of hair comes in and you repeat the process.
Laser doesn’t kill the hair gradually. You need several sessions to get the new hair cycle.
Have you seen shedding after treatments?
If you are seeing a lot of fine hair, then it is hair that the laser did not affect-seeing that laser has no effect on fine hair (even though it sheds-it will come back).
So technically after all your sessions are done, you should have all the coarse hair gone and just the fine untreatable hair left.
This is why laser is cleared as PERMANENT hair REDUCTION by the FDA.
Hope this helps!
The hair is growing back less thick each time. Yes I have a lot of shedding each time I have my treatments then it eventually starts reappearing finer thats why I thought eventually the hair should be so weakened that there should be less until the follicle stops growing the hair? My skin has gradually got softer and smoother but just lots of quite dark fine hairs. I began my treatments back in late May.
Is the hair shedding within 3 weeks after each treatment? That’s how you tell if it was affected at all. ALL hair should shed, not a “lot”. And whatever doesn’t shed should be touched up at 3 weeks as it was missed.
Are they use 18mm spot size? Joules are only relevant along with the spot size information.
You can only now start to tell what’s gone for good as hair grows in cycles. The first 3-4 treatments treat different hair each time as it cycles.
How far are your treatments spaced?
spot size is 18mm, first three treatments were 6 weeks apart my last one was 7 and my next one is due next week, hair sheds within 3 weeks. Will I start seeing bare skin soon as it thickens less or have I been through all the hair cycles?
Your treatments are too close together. There shouldn’t be much to treat at 6 weeks. You’re basically not letting the hair grow out fully, which is why it seems so fine.
You should be able to wait about 10 weeks between treatments now.
but there’s enough grown back to justify another treatment. I’m a man, hair grows quicker lol
If there seems enough, but it’s fine, you should still wait. 8 weeks should be minimum on this area if settings are good. At this point, it should be 9-10 weeks. You should shave meanwhile.
