2nd Tx with Gentlelase

I had my second Gentlelase treatment today on my Type III chest, abs, shoulder and back (first treatment was 7 weeks ago). I know that this isn’t optimal spacing, but I considered today kind of a hybrid spot check + next round - as a decent amount of hair never shed and a next round of hair was beginning to sprout.

This time front treated at 14J, back at 16J (18mm spot size). I had virtually no pain on the back/shoulders, but damn the chest and stomach hurt! Next time I’m planing on jumping to at least 16J front, 18J on the back. I’m seriously considering going the EMLA route next going forward as I fully intend to ramp up to 18J everywhere and I’m not sure my chest can take it without being numbed.

I’m curious to ask our resident experts about shedding: Last round, I know I was under-treated (12J front and back). Nevertheless a significant amount of hair shed. What I’m wondering is whether as to hair that actually did shed, was the first treatment effective? That is, can a hair shed after treatment and yet not be dead? Are there different levels or degrees of shedding?

Shedding is good, but it doesn’t mean the hair was killed. That’s why using high settings is important. It guarantees that enough heat is delivered to the hair to kill it for good, not just disrupt it temporarily.

If your skin can handle it, you really shouldn’t be using anything under 16J on 18mm.

Lack of pain means either settings are too low or hair is not coarse enough, or both.

If more than 10% doesn’t shed by week 3, you should ask for a free touchup.
