2nd session done yesterday

I am new to this site. Without doing research on what equipment is being used until now, I am wondering if I spending a lot of money for what will be little to no results. The machine being used is a Alma Harmony XL. They used a device that she swiped across my arms and butt cheeks. She said the settings were 7 and 30? For my face (upper lip and chin) she used a device that felt like a rubber band hitting me several times, and the only setting I remember on that was 23. I am a female with skin type of II or III, somewhat pale and burn. I have stubbles that grow on my outer part of my upper lip and chin. My arms are a combination of dark hair and blonde hair. With my first session, I didn’t notice a lot of difference and I didn’t walk away feeling sunburned. I had my 2nd session yesterday and not feeling any sunburn feeling. Did I make the wrong choice for hair removal???

If you have laser on any area that does not have coarse, dark, and relatively dense hair, you risk getting MORE hair growth, not less. It doesn’t happen to many people but it can happen. Coarse, dark hair means that it will probably be visible even after shaving, it will be hard to get a close shave, and you grow rough stubble within 12-24 hours. Dense hair means that the individual hairs are spaced close together.

I had hair induced on my arms (which had fine dark hair) and I would recommend you don’t treat this area any more if you don’t want to take that risk. The same goes for the butt AND the face. If the hair is not coarse, dark and dense, you should look into electrolysis.

Harmony is not a bad IPL, but it’s still an IPL. It will work, but only on dark coarse dense growth. You shouldn’t be treating anything else with it or you will risk induced growth instead of removal.

What you should be looking for is complete shedding of all treated hair 3 weeks after each treatment. Whatever doesn’t shed wasn’t affected either due to low settings or hair being too fine or spots being missed. If lots of spots were missed, they should do a touchup for free at that point.
