22 male.. uncertain results

Im a 22 year old guy with hair all over body pretty much…
“sigh”

Im about to undergo my 4th laser treatment (entire body) the results so far are mixed… I have 8 to 10 weeks between treatments… though this last one had to be postponed so is twelve weeks…

now…
Lower legs seem to have made the best progress… but Im not sure if this is completly true… cause I suspect that the hair may just grow slower than the rest of my body…
Chest and abs are definately less corse and maybe somewhat thinner… but again Im not sure if 8 weeks growth is a great example…
Back hasnt made a lot of progress… and shoulders and arms I havent been treating because the hairs are too thin and light (besides a few odd darker ones)

so… Im happy to have some small amount of hair left on legs and even chest… the rest I want gone… for good…

Im a fairly good candidate… light skin… been strictly out of the sun… dark hair, not hugely thick though.

so here are the things that worry me… and advice or experiences would help…

1… The legs… like I said, I suspect that 8 weeks isnt long enough to fully gauge the effectivness… I dont mind having some hair remaining on legs so continuing with laser for a few more treatments may be enough… but… 3 or 4 years down the track, will I be in for a nasty surprise?
with the hair coming back…

2… the chest and back doesnt seem to be doing too great… they are fairly thin hairs now… but the upper back i think is even worse, chest is maybe slightly reduced, its hard to tell… Would electrolysis be the better option?,

3… shoulders upper and lower arms are thin and blond hairs… so the laser would be inefective… plus theres a hell of alot of them… and they are very thin… so would electrolysis work? or what are my other options? bearing in mind im after PERMANENT reduction…

4… I was also wondering about these home electrolysis kits… for the naughty areas… ahem… it would be maybe a little less embarrassing… do they work? scar? are they permanent?.. um… should they be used in certain areas…?

Any way to sum up…
my desired results are…

no hair on back
less hair on legs
less hair on chest
no hair on buttocks and anus region
less hair on lower arms (light, tanned)
no hair on upper arms (light, thin)
no air on shoulders (light, thin)

bearing in mind im about to undergo 4th laser treatment. for most of these areas, with uncertain results… I guess I wont really know until i stop and let the hair grow for a couple of months…
but after 8 weeks at least there is “some” reduction. and im hoping permanent…

any help?

I’m 23 years old and 2 years ago I did 4 treatments on my legs using an alexandrite Lightsheer.

The results are OK. Hair patterns seem a little off (I plan to do electrolysis to fix that little problem) but the hair that fell off stayed off. The hair that remained is way thinner, but it grew as long as before. That’s all OK

I had 3 chest treatments, 0 results. Everything grew back. I had 7 arm treatmens (my first 3 were with very low joules so I changed clinics) and again, 0 results. I’m also currently doing my face and I have terrible patchiness right now.

The only success was my legs. I plan to do electrolysis to fix everything since I’ve wasted so much money on laser and I’m a student who cannot afford to do this anymore.

Home electrolysis kits dont usually work, Im sure most clinics do the “naughty” areas. There’s no shame in asking, I doubt you are the first to ask for that treatment or receive it for that matter.

Hi shanu,

Read this thread:

Success Stories

It tells about my experience with laser and especially the success I had with legs.

Hope this helps!

I am happy for anyone’s success, but legs are not a good case to crow about. Legs are one of two places where one can find permanent removal by just the advance of age (poor circulation) poor diet or the scar tissue build up from waxing, shaving, plucking and whatnot. The other place is the eyebrows. Lloyds of London wrote a policy covering Bob Geldolf’s eyebrows when they make the movie Pink Floyd’s The Wall, because there is a scene where he shaves his eyebrows with a bare razor blade. Had his eyebrows healed with enough scar tissue to close the hair follicles, he would have had One Million Pounds although he would never have eyebrows again.

In other news, older women can tell you that they have less leg hair just due to lower circulation.

James, don’t forget the head hair!

I thought that shaving increased hair growth? (j/k)

One good thing to look forward to in our old age - less body hair. At what age does this commonly happen?

I do not have poor circulation or a bad diet. I have never shaved, waxed, plucked or whatnotted my legs.

And I am not an older woman… nor, for that matter, a woman at all.

While I appreciate your professional opinion and have read many helpful posts written by you… I think you are often unnecessarily negative.

I know my results were particularly good, but there are others on here that are also getting good results. Your pompous attitude in spelling out Light Amplification… etc. rather than using the acronym LASER belies your distaste and distrust of the method.

I am for whatever method works… be it solely laser, a combination of laser and electrolysis, or solely electrolysis. There is something to be said for all of them. And negatives to be said for all of them.

End of rant.

i agree with James. i had very coarse leg hair that became even coarser after almost twenty years of everyday shaving. i bought a rotary epilator, that removes hair from the root, same effect as waxing, and after using it for a few months, my hair are now growing a lot thinner, like vellus hair. in fact they are so thin, i don’t need to remove them at all anymore. i don’t need lasers do get that result. as james said, due to low blood circulation and also the fact that hair growth in the legs is not hormone related as in the face, legs is the easiest area to obtain permanent hair removal.

Wow Shanu! Why all the bother???
I just want the hair off my back & shoulders!!!
I am a man.
We are supposed to have hair on our legs, arms & chest…
I just want the crap off my back!!!
I have had 9 treatments with mixed results…
My lower & mid back are just about hairless…
My shoulders are about 60% less hair and the back of my neck and top middle of my back only seem about 20-30% less hair!!!
Why?
That was the worst area to begin with, with the thickest longest hairs!!!
Now it’s summer and I like to tan sooooo, it will be October before go again…
They have me going at 12 week intervals.
I personally think that is too long.
They say 10-12 weeks for back hair.
I think My hair is in about an 8 week cycle though.
Everyone can’t be the same…

you should be going back in as soon as you see the new hair appearing after the shedding occurs. that means that the hair that was in the resting stage is now in the anagen stage, which is where you need it to be for laser to kill it. this period varies from person to person and from area to area, so just go in as soon as you see new hair appear.

Well, maybe you’re supposed to have hair on your back and shoulders too! After all it’s there and is “natural.”

And following that logic…

Maybe women are supposed to have hair on their legs and underarms.

So, what is all this fuss about hair removal???

…Does that mean I have to grow my fingernails out too? This is going to be ugly!

Mantaray

22 Male: I am a male and I can attest to the fact that hair removal from any part of the body will cause that part to look and feel better. You should consider underarm hair removal also. You will find the smoothness to be very sensual.

hey dude Im all for body hair… I didnt say I want to be hairless on the legs, arms, chest ectra… just a little less is fine… I was born into the world with only my body, I view my body as my most important possesion… So I want to feel comfortable in it… and some hair reduction will make me feel comfortable… dont worry Im all alpha male… I ate my brochali, and it put hair on my chest… Gosh I didnt eat that much…??? But anyway… lifes short… do what you wanna do. sorry… I just thought Id have a bit of a rant too since its my thread… tehe…

Afraid so. You’re supposed to have fingernails! Don’t interefere with nature!

agreed.
totally in the same boat as you man.

my entire body is very hairy, but other than my back, shoulders , back of neck ,and very upper-arms, the rest just doesnt phase me.

I think what you’re saying is that hair in other places looks in proportion, and is socially acceptable.
back and shoulder hair is something that the vast majority of men really do not have, at least in my observation that is

cheers,
Hank

But you don’t know how many men shave, have had electrolysis, or laser on their backs and shoulders. It is a lot more common than you think.

RJC2001

back and shoulder hair is very common. Most guys don’t do anything about it on a permanent basis unless it is unevenly distributed (basically bare, then a thick black patch here and there), or there is too much density (the bear look).

Wow, did I stir the pot!!!

Yes, I was trying to say most people accept hair on your arms, legs and even chest…The minute it starts on your back and shoulders…GROSS!!
Everyone freaks out!!

Have a nice day.
