20 year old male hairline laser

hey guys im a 20 year old male with some serious hair issues.

ive had hair growing under my hair line since i was a young kid. a few years ago i started plucking at them and then i noticed them coming back thicker. and then like an idiot i started shaving them. now i have to shave it every day as there is a noticeable stubble. and not only that, the hair is super thick. like thick is an understatement. my scalp hair is naturally very very thick but this hair is like the worst thickness ever imo.

now im looking into laser hair removal so i dont have shave there anymore. electrolysis i hear is painful and time consuming. so i thought laser wud be the best. i have tan skin and thick hair. will laser work on me? and will it be the best option for me?

advice please

no help???!?

Can you post a picture WITH hair?

Laser is usually NOT recommended for hair ‘under the hairline’- I guess you mean your forehead.

Shaving doesn’t make hair thicker. It is a myth. I doubt if plucking does that either.

Laser, if performed at good settings, is painful as well! Pain can always be managed using a numbing cream and in your case, since the area involved is so small you wouldn’t even have to bother about safety. Avoiding caffeine on treatment day and taking some aspirin can also help reduce pain. Pain should NOT be the deciding factor.

Both laser and electrolysis will take at least 12 months of work and more like 18.

Yes, with electrolysis, you will spend more time on table.

someone tell me if laser will help make my hairline straight.

Are you referring to the part under the v-shape of your hair (I can’t think of a better way to describe it), or are you referring to part of the v-shape as well? I think you’re better off going with electrolysis as it can give you a more “definite” shape. A lot of laser heads are round, so it can be very hard to get a straight line with a round head (it can be done but it’s difficult).

Electrolysis would be the better option you can accomplish a hairline that looks so natural.Laser csn make your hairline to perfectly straight, this can look very unnatural. You would also have to be very careful with laser because it can induce hair growth in this area around the forehead. I am just working on a 24 yr old male who had laser hair removal to correct his hair line and end result was laser induced hairgrowth.

“electrolysis i hear is painful”

What you have to understand is that everybody has differnt pain tolerance. I have had clients come to me worried because they have heard electrolysis is so painful. I will do a patch test and the comments i get is “oh is that it” or “this is not as painful as laser”. I encourage you to see an electrologist and let them know that you are concerned about the pain and if you can have a patch test done. once you have done that then make up your mind and see if it is very painful.

yea referring to the part under the v shape. i just want a clean cut v-shape nothing under it. is it possible to remove this hair with laser even tho its really thick?

Laser will only work on thick hair, but I really think you are better off with electrolysis in this area. It doesn’t look like a lot of hair, and probably wouldn’t take more than a few hours to clear off (an actual electrologist could gauge a much better time to clear it than I can).

isnt electrolysis painful and more time consuming? and because of my extreme hair thickness wont it take more and more sessions? im not looking to spend a lot of money.

Laser, when done at proper settings, should hurt too. It’s a different sensation than electrolysis. Depending on where you are, some electrologists work with doctors to administer numbing injections so you won’t feel anything. The biggest factor that determines how long electrolysis will take is the number of hairs you have, not necessarily their thickness (thickness might play a factor, but an electrologist would have to answer that.) I would go visit an electrologist for a consultation, and be direct and ask for an estimation how many total hours it will take to be hairfree because you’re on a limited budget. Depending on where you are located, I’m sure someone can come up with a recommended electrologist.

thanks a lot

I suggest removing the fluff on the sides, and perhaps a few hairs from the centre, for a natural look. The photograph is not very clear, but I view this as a small amount of work overall. LHR leads to an unnatural look, as hairlines are generally not straight. What you need is definition, and removing the fluffy hairs is the best way to achieve this.

thank u for the suggestion. i want to get rid of the fluff on the sides as well and mabye get rid of the peak idk yet.

but how much wud u say this procedure would cost. i have thick hair so it wud require more treatments. i just need a general price so i can start saving.

Hi,
Take it from personal experience…do not go anywhere near a laser in that area. This coming from someone who had laser every 10 weeks or so for over 10 years in the same area and the hair got much much worse. I’m in the process of sorting this out with electrolysis now.
Yes electrolysis can be painfull, I’ve had hour long sessions of blend on the forehead which I was exhausted by the end of…if you can find a good electrologist with a apilus then it’s much less painful. I say for 4 and half hours and even then it was only mildly irritating. Look into it, do your homework!!
