$2,000 BUCKS!!! Where could that get you?

I got a quote today for laser hair removal from my back (not including my sholders). Two thousand dollars. Where would this ammount of money get you in electrolysis. Whould is compleat the same area? Less? More? I’m not covered in hair, for there is quite a lot of skin between the forest.

Lets say the rate is $50.00 per hour and the tech is adverage. Two grand would buy me 40 hours of work.

Also, one last question. I understand hair grows in cycles, so if you were to get one Laser treatment (OR ELECTROLYSIS), and assuming they KILLED all the hairs, and you STOPPED, would there be a time every year that you had less hair than the rest of the year? If so I would like that time to be in the summer…wouldn’t we all!!!

Hoy Yah!!!

im no expert… but i dont think the cycles work that way… if some of your hairs were killed in a particular hair cycle then i think you would just acheive overall reduction in hair all the time… not complete hair free for a certain time of the year… sorry to be the bearer of bad news… i wish there was a way to be hair free in summer :stuck_out_tongue:

p.s. $2000 seems expensive for just back… is this a package deal?? i wouldnt recommend getting packages… i would advise you to take pay per treatment… this gives you more options incase its not working the way you want. or you have problems with the tech.

Hi:

It sounds as if they are quoting you a package of treatments.

You would have to get the specifics from them, but it could
consist of 6 treatments followed by 3 follow ups if needed.

The treatments are probably only going to be about 45 minutes
to an hour in length.

One treatment may kill some of the hairs and cause
some to shed and then grow back. Treatments are usually done about every six weeks to treat the regrowths that will
be coming back as well as the hairs that were dormant
during the previous treatments which may be entering the growth phase.

You need to avoid suntanning when getting laser,
so you might be better to do this now rather than in the summer.

Psst, and if you want to keep on having fun in the sun while getting hair removal, you could always do electrolysis during summer months

You can ask where would $2,000 get you with LASER hair reduction as well. Why don’t people ask that question? Laser is not that easy or predictable as far as reaching your hair removal goals. You are gambling and hoping that you get what you paid $2,000 for.

Electrolysis is technically harder to do and the amount of hair removed is highly dependent on the the equipment used, the skill and stamina of the electrologist. Modality used determines price, too. If a man’s back has 60,000 hairs and the electrologist is using blend at a rate of 8 seconds per hair as opposed to PicoFlash or MicroFlash thermolysis at a rate of 10-12 hairs per minute, those variables are going to cost one less or more in the long run. Do you see why we can’t answer how long? how much? questions with any serious preciseness. Likewise, laser specialists can’t guarantee you reduction percentages and satisfaction guarantee’s for the $2,000 package either.

If I were a man with a hairy back, I would put my time, money and effort into the modern electrologist that has invested in an epilator that can do MicroFlash or PicoFlash thermolysis in autosensor mode with a great magnification aid so she/he can SEE the hairs in groups and tackle them. If he or she will tackle this with you in 2 hour or more sessions, you are going to get somewhere substantial. The more hair you have, the longer the sessions should be until you get a first, full clearance. Men’s backs are not easy for either party, but electrolysis works if the plan of attack for the amount of hair you have is correct.

Any electrologist that shrinks away and expresses negativity at such a large task, probably has not set herself up for success for doing large areas. One needs a powerful epilator with the best modes of thermolysis and the electrologist needs to fly away in auto sensor mode using the largest probe possible. I stand by what I say because I have done this. I know James has as well. The client must understand the meaning of patience and be doggedly goal-oriented for about 14 months to 24 months. It will cost thousands of dollars. If I really had to take a guess, I would say somewhere under $8,000 for most men, depending on the amount of hair, depending on whether the electrologist is using the faster forms of thermolysis. I have seen two men’s backs that are out of this realm of guesstimating, meaning every one of their follicles seemed to have a thick hair growing out of it from neckline to beltline. Treating these men would take longer than two years and would cost more.

Sorry so long.

Dee

This is a package deal. (Please see: Where would you spend your money?) The total price of the package is $4432.50. This would include my back & shoulders and my wifes brazilian & underarms. Every 10-12 weeks for two years (8-10 visits).

HOW LONG WOULD IT TAKE TO SEE LASER INDUCED REGROTH, IF IT WERE GOING TO HAPPEN? I REALIZE THIS IS NOT A PROBLEM WITH ELECTROLYSIS.

AS A SIDE NOTE: I AM GREATFUL FOR THIS SITE AND AM THANKFUL FOR ALL THE COMMENTS AND SUGGESTIONS. THANK YOU DEE, JAMES AND EVERYONE ELSE FOR YOU TIME AND EXPERTISE.

HOY, YAH!!!

The reading that I have done suggests that the range is 6 months to 5 years on stimulated increase, or rebound growth where one may have the return of hairs previously in dormancy. If you still look fine after 2 years, you are probably ok.

This 6 month to 5 year range is alarming to me!

For anyone who has had growth stimulated by the laser, how long was it before you noticed the regrowth? What area was treated and what was your skin type?

Also, is the regrowth something that is obvious from looking at you at a normal distance or only something visible if you’re right next to the mirror in bright light?

James, that’s completely incorrect. You would see induced growth while you’re waiting for the new hair to come in after the treatment. So you would see it after the first treatment. I would not worry about it on any area that has DENSE COARSE hair. And any area that doesn’t, you shouldn’t be treating with laser in the first place and going straight for electrolysis.
