1st Treatment

Hi all,

Well I had my first treatment today with the LightSheer. I got my underarms done for $100, seemed reasonable to me. Pain wise it was not bad, felt like a bunch of stings. She did ice the area before treatment, and used this thing that blows cold air on the area during treatment.

I was freshly shaven, and during the treat a lot of the hairs actually popped out, and looked all fried. She wiped them away half way through added more gel and contined. Is that normal that the hairs popped out during treatment?

I didnt ask what setting she was using as I didnt want to come across as questioning her expertise. She did do a patch test before hand wtih 3 different settings, and I had no reaction other then some mild redness. So I guess she used the highest setting from the test. Since some hairs popped out during treatment does that mean she was using a high setting?

She also said to come back in 6wks for next treatment, but I know that body is usually 8-10wks. Seeing that I used to take meds to control hair growth Im thinking maybe I should go back at 6wks…but only if I have growth right?

The skin is just mildly red at this point…stupid question but should it be redder and more irritated? Im just concerned that the setting may not have been high enough. Next time I’ll have to muster up some courage and ask about spot size, setting etc.

redness goes away within a few hours to a few days, depending. yes, some hairs get burned off and pop out right away. you won’t be able to tell how successful it was until after 3 weeks when shedding completes. yes, wait to see how much growth there is before deciding when to go back. would be helpful if you can provide your skin type again and find out the settings (not questioning her expertise, just tracking your treatments so you can assess later. at this point, you’re just asking out of curiosity, not telling her what to do).

Thanks for the advice…cant wait for shedding to start. Next time I’ll ask or maybe I’ll call the clinic and ask she must have it written down what settings she used, or do you think calling would be odd?
