The area’s that were worked on with blend appear to be within the guidelines of normal skin reaction. We are destroying the tissue that makes the hair grow, so expect some signs of treatment to reflect that in the beginning when hairs are numerous and closer together. Let’s see how you look in in 48 hours and then a week. Please let us know.
I truly think you have a problem that is very, very managable. If you were my client, I would suggest that we put in enough time to get that precious first full clearance asap. Generally speaking, with microflash thermolysis, I can get full clearance anywhere from 3-5 hours of work. So, usually, I will see someone for two hours one week, two hours the next and so forth until the area is cleared. You can choose to go for longer sessions if the electrologist has quality equipment and skill. I have done this as well with no complications. You may have more swelling, but that can be managed. Blend will take longer, but is a good method as well.
What aftercare has she recommended? Aftercare is very important. Sea Breeze is okay. My personal preference is witch hazel and aloe vera gel during the day and for nighttime use, a little dab of tea tree oil for the first three days. I personally like the lemon, peach or lavender witch hazels that Thayer’s makes. Can be purchased on online at Herbspro.com or at Trader Joe’s, Wild Oats, and maybe Whole Foods? It’s lovely stuff. Thayer’s makes a medicated witch hazel if you are prone to acne.
I am actually working on several women with skin of color that have laser-induced hair growth. One in particular has stayed close to me for 6 months and she’s doing well. Less skin reaction and of course, much less hair. It took about 6 hours for her full first clearance in the beginning and ever since, we are able to get her clear everytime she comes in. Her appointments are spaced about every three weeks apart. I do microflash thermolysis on her. Skin reaction was tougher in the beginning, but is much better now. It appears that even her acne is improving as well. We are getting there, but it hasn’t been easy. Keep in mind that you need to keep your spirits high no matter what. The first six months is the hardest, but keep punching at this. If you have a skilled electrologist, there is no way that the hair that is being treated will ever come back.
I hope that I’m being fair to suggest to you that you should spread the word to women like yourself that they take a big chance getting their face LASERED. I’m seeing this outcome too much. Good for my business, but that is not the way I desire to get clients, as it is truly an uphill struggle for these women.
I would most definitely go in for longer times and clip or shave the hairs in between sessions. Do good aftercare and if your practitioner can do flash or microflash thermolysis with expertise with a decent healing outcome, this will speed things along to get you clear and keep you clear. There is an end to all this. I don’t think a year of consistent treatments is a long time nor is it impossible. The “quick” way didn’t help, but the sure way will give you your life back. One year, if you stick close to your electrologist. If you skip appointments, you are looking at adding more time, but you will still be happy in the end.
