1st GentleLASE Treatment 2 Weeks Ago

I went for my first GentleLase treatment 2 weeks ago. Here are my experiences and a photo from today from which I am looking for some feedback on:

First off, I am very hairy with coarse dark hair and light skin. I got all areas of my back, front and shoulders shaved the day before my treatment. I wish I knew better at the time, but I would have gotten shaved the same day.

The technician told me she was using a 24 setting? I am not positive of the number but it did seem high to me. She first did my back and it was extremely painful. Most say it feels like rubber bands snapping against the skin, but my treatment felt more like a knife blade running through me. The tech told me that it was probably be more painful for me than most because I am so hairy and the hair is so coarse.

One think I thought odd, is that the the tech seemed to be gliding the laser over my body instead of moving the laser up and down for each “zap” as you see in the videos of the procedure being completed.

The night of the treatment, I did have red marks over all my treated areas and they happily went away about 24 hours later.

One concern I have is what seems like an uneven pattern of my hair falling out as you can see in the photo. One side is definitely progressing faster than the other. Do you think this is an uneven treatment or do you think it can be because I may sleep more on one side causing the hair to fall out quicker? I did use a loofah a few times to get rid of dead hair.

Thanks for your help and feedback!

24 doesn’t mean much. It’s probably the joules but I’d need a spot size to go with it. Denser/coarser hair will be more painful, that is true. That’s what I like to call sucking it up (it’s worth it in the end.)

Even though you’re still in the shedding phase, it should not look that uneven. It should look pretty uniform. Did you notice it felt like she missed a bunch of spots while she was treating you? Gliding with a Gentlelase shouldn’t be done – she should hit a spot, pick it up, place it on a new spot, fire, repeat.

The tech did “glide” but it is hard to recall if I felt she missed any spots. I was surprised how little time the procedure took. Maybe 20 minutes for my my back, buttocks, front and shoulders. I am guessing that with the short amount of time it took, spots were missed.

Is gliding more or less painful than hitting a spot, picking up and repeating on the next spot?
