15 Months Into Treatment And Need Help Please!!

Hi I’ve been seeing an electrologist (who has 20 yrs of experience) for about 15 months now. Half hour appointments weekly for the first 11 months and now for the last few months I’ve been seeing her 2-3 times a month for half hour appts. She’s been doing thermolysis and using an instantron. I wish I had some before pics but I don’t so I will just mention that my hair was pretty thick and dark and I had a major problem with ingrowns especially on the chin. I have seen a huge reduction in hair on my chin, hair on sideburns is almost non-existent now and she’s just started to work on my upper lip. I have some scarring that you will be able to see in the pictures I’ve attached that were taken right after my last treatment. I believe the scarring is from my problems with ingrown hairs BEFORE the electrolysis but I never noticed them before my treatments so I’m hoping to find out if anyone can tell me whether it looks like electrolysis scarring or not and whether my post treatment reaction is normal or not or could result in scarring. Like I said before, I don’t think my scars are a result of the electrolysis but since they weren’t noticeable until now I’m a little freaked out and just want to make sure I won’t end up with more scarring. Also because the pics were taken right after treatment I should mention that I do end up with some scabbing sometimes on the upper lip and chin a few days after treatment and they are sometimes a little bigger than pinpoint size. Aftercare is azulen paste for first couple days and then back to my normal routine of vitamin c, e and ferulic acid with antioxidant serum and sunscreen. I hope I’ve provided enough info and if anyone can help me out that would be great because my research on the internet isn’t helping much. Thank you!!

I apologize ahead of time if the lighting in the pictures isn’t great. I used my phone in my car right after my last appt!

I have similar problems (though I am only 5 months in to treatment), I’d be interested to hear what the pros say?

Again this is a post where I’m not really sure why the original poster didnt get a response when they asked. I dont ever remember this thread coming up before? There were some problems with the board software though so that may be why they werent seen before.

I dont think there is an easy answer to the poster’s question. When you remove all the hair often problems that were pre-existing are revealed. Without a before picture we dont know if any of the marks were pre-existing. They could just as easily be caused by acne, or as the OP suggests ingrown hairs. We cant tell.

If you are only a few months into treatment, now would be a good time to get pictures.

Seana, you’re doing a fine job here and it’s appreciated. I do read these comments now and then. With the two latest questions there are indeed very specific answers, but …

What happens, at least to me anyway, is that I answer (explain in detail) many many times, over-the-years, and get exhausted answering the same questions again and again. It’s not the patient’s fault of course, but …

This site is good (because it’s OPEN), however it’s sort of a “black hole” of information. There’s a big discussion and understanding and then … SLURP … it’s all gone and we start all over again with the next client’s questions.

I mean, look at how many times “spot size” and “fluence” are explained … along with all the other stock questions & answers. Overall, there needs to be a simple way for patients to get answers FAST and not have to sift thru all the hundreds of posts. … They want answers that are simple, factual and authoritative.

Cheers!

While it won’t eliminate all of the redundant questions, a simple FAQ at the top of every forum for that forum’s most frequently asked questions could probably do a lot to help.

We do sort of have that Emancipated, every forum has a number of sticky posts at the top. Some of this writing is really relevant despite having been written however many years ago. The problem is that these havent really been maintained for a long time and dont “exactly fit” the particular client concern. So they ask the question, then a month later someone who never saw that post a month ago, asks the same or a similar question. Michael is correct on the “black hole” aspect of information on this site.

That said, in 18 or so years this site has existed it has stood as a rock of hair removal information. Hairtell had very humble beginnings and some of that heritage, is owed to its design. In all the time the site has existed, we havent found a better way of presenting the information , and personally address each of the consumers questions and concerns.
