1 year into electrolysis journey

I am about 1 year into my electrolysis journey for upper lip, chin and underarms. Right now I get treatments around every two weeks for underarms + upper lip and chin.

If I continue at this frequency, how long does it take before I taper off? Or not have to go at all? Does the hair truly go away? Or does it just get thinner and thinner to that it is less noticeable? I really want to go hair free in these areas because of my tendency to form ingrown hairs.

On my chin and upper lip, the hair is very fine with the exception of a few pesky hairs. An appointment every two to three weeks keeps things under control.

On my underarms, the hair still grows but it is a lot thinner than it used to be. If I wait a month without getting a treatment, the hair is noticeable but it is very fine. Because of my schedule I get treated every two weeks, even though I could go once a week for a shorter appointment.

Out of pure curiosity, how many hours have you “put in” to your underarms at this point? (Curious as to what electrologists feel is an “apropriate” TTT for such an area.)

Hi - I am so bad, I haven’t kept track on the exact times, but only my frequency.

I think I have had 20 hours on my underarms. My appointments used to take 1 hr for each underarm every 1-2 weeks. After 5 months, I started to taper off and since winter, I am at 1 hr for both underarms every 3-4 weeks because I would let my hair grow out a little longer.

Sometimes the underarm hair will be really fine, and I think I’m closer to the finish line, but then I will get a treatment and the hair that sports will be slightly coarse. Is that because of my hormones or are those different hairs at different levels of treatment?

On my face, but I would say that it’s been 12 hours on upper lip. I started off with half an hour treatments every week. Now I am at 20-30m every two weeks and feel that I am in maintenance.

I’m committed to the process but wondered because I want to start working on new areas.

Thanks, I appreciate your input!

Can I ask how old are you? if you have more than 25 years, unless it is a unique case where the perimeter reaches almost to the elbow, 20 hours to do underarms, is, well, too long.
