The handpiece has a cooling tip and some places attach a Zimmer to it that sprays cold air during the treatment.

I don’t know about you but for me electrolysis is much more painful than the Soprano XL.

The Soprano XL is a diode which is great for skin types 1-4 and we also had good success with darker people.

The XL been out since early 2007 and before that they had Soprano (without the XL) which is completely different and far from being pain-free.

Odi, from what I remember reading things, isn’t there 2 settings with the XL? One that is the “painfree” mode but not as effective, where the more effective mode still does hurt or something? I might try the XL out, always used alex lasers though. How do you know when an area has been treated enough though? In the videos i’ve seen they usually do a couple passes then they keep passing the area without firing the laser. Is it sensing or detecting something or just cooling the area when they do that? That’s my biggest concern, since with an alex they fire in one spot and they’ve got it, but soprano seems like there’s more chance that one area gets targeted more than another?

The protocol suggest a number of passes but an experienced technician would pass on an area until the area starts to be redish.

The painfree mode (they call it SHR) is very effective but because it fires so fast you can’t really use it on small areas like the upper lip so you would use the regular single pulse mode which is indeed somewhat painful but still no where near the GentleLase.

EDIT: The passes without lasering is for cooling the area.

Day after LHR. I have little red spots, and tons of little white heads (tiny ones) all over my chest. My back however doesn’t look as bad and my arms have no signs, as far as irritation goes. I’m using aloe and tee tree oil.

I’m assuming this is all part of the process?

Great thanks for your help! I might give it a shot sometime, just waiting to see my results with my current laser.

Hey odi how long does it take to do a guy’s legs from bottom right to top of thighs? That’s where soprano interests me since it seems like it would be much faster than a 15mm apogee?

It takes about an hour, depends on your size.

What kind of electrolysis are you getting odi and on what area if you’re finding it that painful? Pain, when it comes to electrolysis, depends a LOT on the machine being used and the person performing it. When being treated by a modern computerized epilator such as Apilus, the pain is really not that bad at all. It’s a tiny sting, really.

Soprano is a diode, btw, in case others are not aware.

Not getting any electrolysis but i did try like two sessions between the eyebrows and the machine is probably old.

I recommend you try out a treatment with a modern epilator like Apilus using thermolysis or even microflash. I think your opinion will change greatly.
