So does that mean the electrologist will just get every new hair coming in since I assume all of the new hairs would be in the growth phase?

How long do you think it will take to get first full clearance going once a week for however long is recommended? Is it better to go in twice a week in the beginning and if so for how long? I have read conflicting ideas on this since some ppl say only once a week in order to let the skin fully recover.

Yes, you would only be getting the new hairs that were not there previously.

Getting to first clearance is a the fastest way to finishing. Depending on the equipment and skill of your electrologist, you can do that faster or you may need to do it slower. The point of the ability to do many hours a day, or many days per week depends on both the skill and the equipment being used on you.

I like to get the person bare as quickly as they can arrange to have time, which is why my clients and I do 3 to 6 hours of work sometimes in the same day, and perhaps work 2 or 3 days per week in the beginning. Of course, most of those clients were born male. I would not have that much work to do on the average female face.

How many days does the skin need in between treatments in the beginning to recover?

When asking how long it takes to get the first clearance I guess I wondered if it will take an entire 6 months just to get the first clearance (or maybe I need to be reminded what the "first " clearance is!!)

I spoke with the woman you recommended in Ohio and she seems very experienced and knowledgeable. I told her about only wanting to get some hairs under my chin and on cheeks and not all of them and asked her how she would know which ones were in the correct part of the cycle to treat. She said she would treat the longest ones. I didn’t understand that since the new hairs in the stage to treat should be just coming out of the skin, right (as soon as they are long enough to get)? Some of the longer surrounding hairs will be ones I want to leave alone.

How long do they have to be to get? I was told 1/4 of an inch. That seems long to me. Do you think they could be a little shorter? I know I can get ahold of really short hairs with my tweezers!

I know what you mean. I don’t know why the electrologist makes you wait until you’re a gorilla to get zapped. It annoys me that mine doesn’t want to get it when it first comes out and is most easily killed. Makes me mad. I can easily tweeze those spots.

I can’t tell you how angry it makes me.

How long the hairs have to be depends on the vision & lighting equipment and the forceps the professional is using. I can remove hairs on most people 12 to 24 hours after the last time they shaved, but I can work faster if they wait 3 days.

I always tried to go twice a week so she could catch anything before it was too noticeable - while it was still light colored and not so coarse - but she just didn’t like that. I guess I thought it was best to get them when they were “new growth”… how long until the hair is considered “not new growth”?

She seemed to have excellent magnification. But I didn’t like being a hermit 4 days out of the week, and that’s essentially what used to happen.

You are generally safe on this point. You will usually have 3 to 6 weeks to get those hairs before they leave anagen phase.

I see. Well what I want for Christmas is my own personal, Johnny-on-the-spot electrologist who is waiting and ready to zap hair the second it’s zappable.

Got any around here?
