Rachelle's Treatment Odyssey

okie dokie… i had another treatment today… i lost count. i believe its 8th?? for 15 mins at setting 22 for thermolysis. This is the second treatment with the higher setting since i started. The first time was a test to see if my skin would react any worse. It did not and the skin is totally fine so we shall continue. Pain wasnt too bad, and sometimes it HURT but i totally sucked it in.

higher heat in good hands = faster hairfreeness (if thats a word)

i did my chin, side burns, and chest bone. No nipples. i am still too shy to remind my electrologist to do them. i think i’ll let it slide till my chin/chest bone hairs are gone for good. Maybe then i’ll have more motivation.

There was the usual redness, but right now as i type this out. no redness in site. I applied aleo vera twice and it dries and that is all.

My electrologist said that she predicts in about 3 more treatments, my time would be cut in half. (again!). It used to take me 30 mins, then now 15 mins. And hopefully soon enough like around 7-8 mins!

My side burns are doing amazing! i feel like treatment for them is done! nothing grows back. the electrologist is just doing some ramdon fine hairs in the area and she has no serious work to do on my side burns. IT is becuase i did not play with them or pluck them as i did the chin area.

lesson deduced: HAIR THAT IS TAMPERED WITH WILL TAKE LONGER BY ELECTROLYSIS TO REACH HAIR FREE PERMANANCY.

so boys and girls out there, DO NOT PLUCK YOUR HAIRS!. no matter how few they are. Just trim or bleach them or better yet, if it really bothers you, go see an electrologist!

tata for now!

by the way,

i write what i think is important to know regarding my treatments.

BUT if anyone (especially the not-yet-still nervous-about-electrolysis clients) has any questions or concerns or whatever PLEASE feel free to ask me. I check hair tell regularly and always check my post here so feel free to ask and get a speedy response from moi.

It will be great to have someone around here who is Done, Happy, and Still Posting.

Thank You for keeping in touch.

hello i think it is wonderfull that you share your progress with us and i have to say that yout skin looks already very good. this also is very encouraging for me to start electrolysis soon myself . i hope you keep up posting your progress and i wish you all the luck in the world

please excuse my poor writing because i am not an native speaker

thank you for your post! i am glad you find it useful. The more reason for me to continue to post.

on with the show!

right now: (3days later) my side burns look like nothing has been done on them. No red, no scars, no scabs, no hair.

chin has scabs (this is usual for me) and feels rough because of scabs(normal for me). Not red, only colouration from scabs and minor/petit scars, which i believe will disappear with time.

chest bone. has the most reaction. not as much scabs. the area basically looks like there is acne (small red dots and bumps). which is not normal for me. But this is the area that always hurts the most for me with electrolysis and the most sensitive and so the skin reacts accordingly.

tata!

Rachelle,
i just wanted to say how much I enjoy your updates! The news of all those evil hairs being zapped away and not coming back, well, they just warm my heart, lol.

also, i haven’t gotten up the nerve yet to start my breasts, so i am waiting to hear how it goes for you first!

–susie

howdie all again.

had another appointment today for 15 mins. i dont think i even took the full 15 mins! we started 5 mins late and finished on time! my chin, side burns and chest bone were done. this time the chin required much less time then usual. it was great. the side burns the same as before…not much work to do, though the right side showed more growth (i.e. few seconds more work) than the left side.

my electrologist worked for longer time on my chest bone since my face had barely any work to do. the chest part still hurts the most, but i suck it in and keep thinking that this is good for me in the long run. right after my treatment i went shopping!! hahaha… the redness was not an issue. sideburns have like no post reaction whatsoever… chin same as before, but less. the chest is always the reddest but this time it looked pretty good.

i put aloe vera gel couple hours later when i got home after shopping and it looked that made my chest even more red…strange. never happened before. i think it was becasue right after treatment (when i went shopping) the redness went down and when i got home, i only aggravated the already healing skin with applying aloe vera.

oh well. still makes me feel good when i put aloe vera and it prevents me from touching the area as aloe vera is sticky.

tonight i will apply polysporin ointment to my chin and chest. This is my regular routine and i swear that this polysporin is great!! it totally helps with any scars! it takes a while to see results with it, but i seriously notice the difference.

it is recommended that you apply polysporin three times a day, but i just use it at night, cause during the day i am at school. oh and when i get home i’ll apply some as well.

ok thats all… soon, my treatment time will cut down in half again. I predict that after another two treatments or so.

lovely!

Just a quick note to thank rachel for taking so much time to help others by sharing her results. This is why I love HairTell readers!

thank you andrea

kuddos to you for maintaining this wonderful site that led me to electrolysis and great people!

xoxoxoxox to Andrea.

hip hip horray!

ok its about a 22 hours later and i just wanted to comment that the chin and side burns look great.

the chest however. yikes! Its all red and bumpy and it looks like its all covered with acne. If i dont have anything on there, (i.e. aloe vera) it itches like mad.

My mom noticed it (as i am wearing a real low cut shirt so my clothes dont get messed with the gel) and she was like oh dear that looks bad. She’s a bit skeptical about electrolysis, so that wasnt a plus point for me.

ok see here’s a pic of what my chest looks now. The green stuff is aleo vera gel.

notice the dark lines around the base of my neck. Thats one of my problems as well. A while back i posted about it on hairtell and how it was from fake jewelery i wore like 8 years ago. I am currently using ultraquin (as recommended by my electrologist). hope it works.

bye!

The marks from your electrology should fade soon. Give it 3 weeks. Even most bad reactions are a memory in 3 months.

Thanks again for keeping in touch.

Hi Rachel-- I find that a little Tend Skin right after treatment helps a lot with redness and the little bumps.

Stay out of the sun till the redness subsides, then you should see it all fade over the next few days.

hi everyone,

i had another treatment today for 15 mins with thermolysis on setting of 22.

I had a nasty cold today and was reluctant about going for electrologist, but i am so happy with my results i dont want to tamper with treatment scheduals and my electrolosis said that she doesnt mind it if i come in. I was still, i wasnt coughing or sneezing or anything. and she prefered me there too .

anyway, pain is same as before. some spots were completely painless. some spots hurt alot, like base of neck near sternum and the fat part of the chin (the part where ppl get double chins). But the good news was there was not alot of hair to treat so the pain was short lived.

the chest, once again was red and right now it looks like the picture i posted last week. red and bumpy and pimply looking. before i went in today, the area was not as red and there was only scabbing and one or two pimple bump things.

my electrologist put witch hazel and right now i have on aleo vera.

oh to give you an idea of what the hair growth is like. i could individually count the dark black hairs to like 4 (on chin)… the rest of the hairs, were not there, and other hairs were really fine that even the electrologist missed them. I had to show them to her so that she could zap them. I really do see an imporvement and i am going to keep the 15 mins appointment even if i dont need them. I want to move on to more areas and do the finner hairs as well.

by the way, question. Do you think i should even do the fine hairs? I mean they are not thick of black at all. Just fine, somewhat long hairs that cover real nicely with bleach. My electrologist is not concerned with them.

ok bye for now! thanks everyone and good luck to everyone quest on hairfreeness.

-rachel

If you can get away without bleaching them, leave them alone. We electrologists can treat lots of hairs that don’t need to be removed for any reason other than the client is obsessing over hairs no one notices other than the client when in front of a 10x’s magnification mirror.

hi all! update pics on my condition before my treatment tomorrow. some of the first old hairs on my chin/chest have returned. the last time i felt time was before my very 1st treatment. i can tell its the same 1st hairs becuase of their feel and odd location. its weird, they are lke old freinds/enemies and as soon as i felt them i knew i recognized them. its just that gut feeling.

anywho, my concern now is the redness in scars, on the tip of the chin particularly. the chin has always been like that. is that something i should worry about???

the lower hairs (of the chin/neck) in the picture are not really being worked on. a while ago i posted saying if i should worry about the thinner longer hairs because my electrologist never does them and said i could cover them up with bleach if they really bothered me. They show alot in the pic but i dont think they are that noticeable in real life. anyway take a look and let me know what you think.

I know that part of doing this is to repeat oneself over and over, but I just covered this in the past week.

These are NOT the hairs you had treated before. If you count from your first post, December 11th to now, you get 3 months to the day. We have told you that one hair growth cycle takes about 3 months to run its course, and that it takes a minimum of 9 months to get permanent hair removal under perfect circumstances. Well, that means you are right on schedule to start seeing the phase of hairs that have never been treated before. This is why I say that a person who “TRIES” electrolysis for a few hours, and then waits to see if it works, is bound to be disappointed in 3 months, because “It will all grow back” as far as they can see. They won’t notice that for 3 months every year, they have less hair around the same time as the electrolysis treatments.

If your practitioner can’t keep you cleared out with every appointment, this is what you will see every 3 months until you are done.

For a refresher, check this link:

How many times per hair

hey james.

i am totally aware of the situation. sorry if i was annoying. i am sure you get the same questions alot, but i was not asking about how long it would take or why hairs are back. i am totally and completly aware of the growth cycle and the 3 months and 9 month thing. i knew that before going in to electrolysis that it would take a while and hairs that grow in are hairs that were not visible at times of treatments etc etc. i know that all extremely well. (i am on the site constantly and read everything) i also understand that there are hairs that need to be treated more than once to be gone and i have some of these nasty hairs. the hair i had before on my chin was thick (man’s like beard) type of hair and i know such hairs require alot of time and patience. when i said 3 months i figured those stubburn hairs are back, whether they were treated or not or were not existant when i first started, they are back. my point was the hairs are back! to me, its all the same hair. all the same hair that needs to be rid with continued treatments and dedication. my posts are meant to help others and get some insight on the emotional aspect of doing electrolysis.

Thanks though for your post. I am sure alot of ppl benefit from them.
-R

sorry if I seem annoyed. I guess I just go a little nuts when people say anything that suggests that it is the same hair, because that is a misunderstanding of what the situation is, and it is critical that one understand what is in fact going on.

sorry, and thanks for your kind words.

update:

my 12th (i think) treatment today for 15 mins on thermolysis. Its been 3 months and i mainly get work done on my chin, side burns and chest bone.

ok so i was sitting there and i was like it doesnt sting as before. the setting felt low and then my elec told me she was using a 20 setting. i was like but last time i was up to 22. she forgot and then changed the setting to 22. but the chest bone still hurts the most and so i stayed at 20 there.

i also asked her to do some fine but long hairs that she never treated before. they were bothering me. another thing, its become like a little thing that my elec misses noticeably long thick hairs. i got home and i was looking in the mirror and was surprised at the left side of my chin looked as though it still needed some work. i think its because my elec sits on my right side and she cant really see my leftside chin as well and misses the hairs there. Also, i had to remind her today to do the right side burns. She totally forgot that too. maybe she’s had a stressful week. we all do sometimes.

There was also some bleeding on the chin and right side burn. very little but needed to be wiped with kleenex. nothing to worry about.

i first had witch hazel on and now i have aloe vera. tonight i’ll put some polysporin and do that for the coming days as well.

ok thats all. my next appointment is in a week.

bye!
-R

hey guys, i just had my 13th appointment and it took around 10 mins or less!! so since i started electrolosis, i started at 30 mins then to 15 then to 10 mins. I started in mid/late december of 2004 and its march now! so i am doing good. (thank God!) and my electrologist is really happy with me. the chin was same as before, side burns same as before… the chest bone was most improvement in that there were only 4 hairs to be removed (i am not exaggerating).

here’s a strange thing. i still paid for a 15 min appointment even though my treatment took less than 10 mins. is that the way it goes? surely not.

anywho, next week is my next appointment and this time i am going to have enough courage to do my nipples! i reminded my electrologist again today and since i dont take the full 15 mins to do my face, i might as well use the extra time to do my nipples… which dont have as much hair as the face.

thats all.
take care everyone
