New to electrolysis

I agree that this reaction is unnecessary, but so far it doesn’t look like permanent damage has been done. Do let your electrologist know that this concerns you, so she can adjust her settings. There are practitioners, who unfortunately regard this level of skin trauma ,as normal.

How right you are, Christine.

Listen, it is highly possible and important to the client and the electrology professions reputation, that consumers of electrolysis SHOULD NOT have to live with these highly visible, telltale, temporary signs of treatment. All of you have to go out of our offices and continue to see your family, friends and co-workers after a treatment. I’m sure you don’t want people staring at you or asking what happened to your face. This hair removal stuff is supposed to be a secret between you and your electrologist. If someone new comes to me and wants a full clearance and we work for 3-5 hours, I tell them they will feel swollen for a 1-5 days. They may feel it, but it should be nothing that other people notice. Scabbing should be nil to minimal. If they have to miss work or cancel something because of these temporary reactions, then that is a big clue to try some other strategy. We walk a fine line in the beginning and we never know what a particular client’s healing powers are or what kind of care the client takes when they leave the office.

So, you will heal, that’s the good news. The other good news is there are many electrologists that have seen the benefit of upgrading their epilators to a higher generation of tools that allow them to give better treatments faster and with less skin reaction and sensation.
