just wanted to point out that the numbers of recharges of the battery is written as a minnimum of whats been quoted. So its not as if the battery will die after this amount you might likely get 500 or so or more.
Im still in the treating stages, im trying to thin my dark hair out and the areas treated are shedding well and looks to be working… still too early to know about permanent effects yet.
Will you stay close to us here on this thread? Many people are anxious to hear from as many Tria users as possible to hear the pro’s and con’s, but bottom line, they want to know if it reduces hair. We can go back and forth debating if a product is the real deal and study specifications, but in the end, using it over a period of time and reporting honestly is what people want to know about. Thanks for the battery comment.
yes i will keep everyone posted. i just bought some witch hazel and alcohol wipes to do some more treatments tonite, as ive been gettinga few pimples in some of the areas.
it definately feels like its working, my main thing is to thin these thick black hairs out, as when i shave it still feels stubbly, if i can get that reduced ill be happy.
Ferris234, you are the first person I have heard say they broke out in pimples after using the Tria other than myself. It was so bad the first time that I was apprehensive about using it again. It was like all of the hairs were coming back ingrown. In fact, one got so infected that I got a staph infection and had to get put on antibiotics for a week.
Since then there are a few things that I have been doing that I think has completely stopped me from breaking out, you might want to try them.
I make sure I shave the places I have treated every day. Even if the hair has shed and is completely bare I still shave it. I think this helps remove the dead skin and keep my pores open. Then I use Clean & Clear’s Continuous Control Acne Cleanser with 10% benzoyl peroxide. But be prepared for it to bleach the color out of your towels. Even after you rinse it off your skin.
thanks for the advice. yeh the pimples have been annoying. i have been going ok now what ive been doing it buying those alcohol swabs cleaning the area first and the tria unit that touches the skin. also using witch hazel on the areas after treatment.
this seems to help a lot.
keep me posted on how your regrowth is going. ive been just doing lots of areas and waiting to see how it things out.
In response to the battery comments, the number of pulses per charge is almost exactly 375 on the highest setting. This gives you a coverage of only 14.5 square inches if you’re overlapping perfectly, and takes a minimum of 15 minutes (25 pulses per minute).
When I first started using Tria I was spacing out my pulses far too much (in an attempt to cover more area). This was detrimental as there was a lot of patchy regrowth.
During my latest round of treatments (about 6 weeks ago now), I went very slowly… overlapping as well as I could. The difference was very noticeable.
So, I strongly urge people not to rush or space out their pulses. Just accept that Tria has a dreadfully small coverage rate and divide up your treatment areas accordingly, keeping in mind a 2 hour recharge between sessions.
Hopefully the “Tria 2” (if it’s being worked on) will be AC-power compatible.
Out of curiosity, for those that have been using TRIA for several months and longer, how are your longer term results going? There was a lot of discussion when the device was first available, but nothing for quite a while. Is there any update on the usefulness of this device?
Yes, there are updates in other threads on the forum. Nothing definitive yet. It would take at least 2 years or so after the product has been released. You can’t tell anything after only a couple months. You need to have treatments for about a year at least and then wait at least 6 months to judge true results.
It’s been another 3 months since my last Tria and I continue to see improvement in hair texture, but not so much in permanent removal yet.
I’ve been using Tria for almost a year now and have completed 4 rounds of sessions (not counting my early touchup sessions which were due to using oversized treatment areas).
Each round of sessions have involved 65 full battery charges, with overlapping pulses on the highest setting across 942 square inches total.
As with previous results, the hairs work their way free for about 2 weeks, and then are gone for 3 weeks or so. After the first month, more hairs start to come back until most of the hairs have returned by the end of 2 months.
The Tria is a good option for those wanting to make dark/coarse/curly hair lighter/finer/straight, needing a couple weeks of hairlessness for a vacation, or those wanting to (perhaps) save money by doing home treatments prior to commercial LHR.
My advice is to expect to do 4-6 really good Tria sessions over 8-12 months, and then need a final 1 or 2 commercial LHR sessions at a high fluence to finish the job (high 30s/low 40s in my case for light skin).
This isn’t to say the Tria can’t permanently remove hairs: I have had some areas where hair hasn’t grown back (at least in part) since my 2nd full round of sessions. I just think it’s difficult for this device to do so within any reasonable number of treatments.
Also, as others have pointed out, do not expect to use Tria for any large or hard to reach area like legs or backs. For instance, on legs, it would take some 14 hours of treatment time mixed with 110 hours of battery recharging if you used the highest setting and overlapped by 50% properly. The new “Tria 2”, which uses quicker pulses, might be more suitable… but I doubt it since it’s still battery driven.
Hope this helps. I’ll be doing my 5th round this month on some areas, while switching to commercial LHR on others I think.
