“400 years ago, on Earth, workers who felt their livelihood threatened by automation, flung their wooden shoes called ‘sabots’ into the machines to stop them. Hence the word ‘sabotage’.”
Which is why we rarely read estimates of time or money. And remember this is from one of the handful of people in the world who can do this so fast. Dont forget to add the time and cost of travelling to them into the cost.
Is a year fast enough for you, John Sheff? The example I gave of the man in this thread will be totally baby smooth in a years time, where others are still chasing rainbows to rid themselves of hair with modalities that are not right for them.
There are plenty of stories here on Hairtelll where people have spent as much as $20,000 getting repeated laser treatments over 10 years with very little success. So, what good does the new technology do if it doesn’t deliver the results for ALL who try it?
I gave an honest account of what brought my client to the place he enjoys now. You have to be honest about what it takes to achieve this kind of result. I never mislead people and in turn, I trust that people are smart enough to decide for themselves if the hurdles are too high for them to achieve smoothness. For a rich man like you earning $4,500 every two weeks, paying for the end game is not a problem, but you don’t like the amount of time it would take to affect the hair. I respect that. What I don’t respect are your denigrating references towards electrolysis throughout many of your posts.
Not in the least are electrologists threatened by laser reduction. Many of us are trained to do both modalities. We embrace laser and appreciate the enormous contributions laser has made for helping the hairy and helping to make our jobs easier. What we do is back breaking, neck aching work. If getting laser is appropriate for a case and it can knock out the bulk hair, we can do the rest. In fact, we can do it all if the consumer wants it that way.
I don’t think you understand what your acerbic comments about electrolysis being a thing of the past means to millions of people worldwide . False accusations can’t go unchecked or unchallenged. This is not a laser verses electrolysis war. Both have value and both should get the respect they deserve.
Electrolysis is something permanent and requires another persons expertise and intense labor. For the person that buys other services and commodities, it is none of my business how they choose to spend their money. I would say “woah” for the guy that spends $40,000 for a new car (that’s not permanent) The car deteriotes over time. I would say “woah” for the person who buys a $50,000 piece of art ( Will it still be worth that much in 5 years.) How about “Woah” for our dear transgirls that spend many thousands for transitioning? Would that be frowned upon? Hairy people are no different. They need relief, too.
Yeah, I saw the other crazy thread. It’s unlocked now again for some reason.
I’m just trying to be unbiased here. Even if the person is not nice, all they did here is post their story with photos. He didn’t bash anyone on the forum or electrolysis in this particular thread. …It’s a bit less helpful with two pages of back and forth attached to it
But what you will notice is, I dont go on the electrolysis section saying its slow, painful or expensive. No, its you (and others) that comes on the laser section to try and rubbish laser and promote your own old technology.
To spend $20,000 given that a full back and shoulders treatment is £300 that would mean 44 treatments. Im sure they are cheaper in the US too. Are you telling me there are people who had 44 treatments? Doesnt sound true to me.
It only takes a brief look back in this section to find countless replies to people wanting laser from people who offer electrolysis, usually being dismissive of laser.
You are quite correct, there is no war. It was lost long ago, as a brief search for services finds loads of places offering laser and hardly any offering electrolysis.
So I understand your bitterness, in IT we often learn technologies that are forgotten a few years later but one must move with the times and retrain. In IT terms you are the guys who know everything about Windows 3.1 and cannot see any reason to change.
Wow Sheff, way to go. Humiliating yourself on your own thread.
If you are ‘really’ in IT you’d know most of the computers that power the internet and even your new smart phones run on what you would call an ‘outdated’ operating system… what am i talking about? *nix variants… some that still even run strictly in terminals. Heck, even the satellites we send up into space use the old infrastructure. Why is it still around? Because it works.
Annnyway electrolysis is around for the same reason, sounds like you’ve heard it all before so i won’t go into it.
There are no boundaries or dictators here on Hairtell. No my side or your side, no chalkline. Anyone can post in any forum they desire and say what they think is helpful. I invite you to start a thread in the Electrolysis Forum stating that electrolysis is slow, painful, old and expensive. I’m not sure if this is a case of receptive aphasia where you read some words and ignore others or is it intolerance for anyone who doesn’t lush over YOUR manly words of “wisdom”. Your experience is not the final word, but you don’t want to accept that possibility. Instead, you continue to denigrate electrolysis and expect what to happen?
No, I’m telling you that is what others have reported. Sometimes people buy total body packages, not individual sessions. I am now seeing a very irate woman who spent $8,000 for her legs, arms, underarms, face and abdomen using a GentleLase by a very experienced laser specialist. Guess what? She is now having to pay me to do her legs, underarms and face WITH ELECTROLYSIS! She is on the right track now and she will get what she paid for sooner than never for all the laser treatments she had. She couldn’t get a partial refund either. Maybe if she made $4,800 every two weeks, the money wouldn’t matter. By the way, since I am very honest, I will add that Laser treatments worked quite well for her forearms.
Let me help you think a little deeper on this one.
Laser specialists make a lot of money doing laser, even though shorter treatment sessions are the norm. The skill levels are completely different. You can’t find an electrologist on every city block because it takes excellent fine motor skills (we do microsurgery on hair follicles), good hand/eye coordination and extreme patience, all for much less the cost of a laser session. Not too many people have the skills required or patience to become an electrologist and STICK to it for years. Grant it, lasers are very expensive and the maintenance is expensive, thus, the cost per session, but the skill part doesn’t come close to what an electrologist needs. As for money driving the demand, if someone can pull in $16,000 a month by doing laser hair removal or work 12 hours a day, 20 days a month and earn a fourth of that, how many laser businesses would there be as opposed to electrolysis businesses?
I am actually very calm and a little giggly by your lack of knowledge - not bitter. A couple things here. 1. In my own setting, I use the very modern Apilus Platinum. This international company trains and re-trains electrologists on a daily basis. If there were no demand for electrolysis, world- wide, there would be no need for this company to offer training and re-training on their new MODERN epilators. 2. Electrologists in most places are mandated to do so many hours of continuing education. Manufacturers that supply probes to electrologists are still thriving. If there were no consumer demand, there would be no need to sell probes.
You know what your problem is? You can’t be reasoned with. Is it because you are the center of the universe, thinking that your positive laser experience can only mean that laser is the answer for everybody? Bottom line is , when you continue to spout untruths about electrolysis, which is the last hope on earth for the very hair and the very depressed , expect push back.
