My Electrolysis Journey

I agree, this should heal just fine, with little long term damage if at all.

But hopefully, the faster such outcomes (temporary or not) become unacceptable to people, the more electrologists will be forced to re-think their facial techniques from the get go.

Not only it frightens the patient unnecessarily, it’s also a terrible advertisement for electrolysis. People have also told me, “this is what happens when you try to change what nature has given you.”

So does anyone know what went wrong? Are the settings too high? Was she moving too fast? Too deep? The needle was too big? I want to understand that so I can tell her how to improve the results next time. I also felt that there were times that she was pricking/squeezing something (like a zit). Shouldn’t the needle just go in? I felt that my skin was being pulled and squeezed, is that normal?

I want to make sure that I know what to tell her before i see her again on Wed or maybe just find someone else. I want to make sure that this is not due to negligence and incompetency because that would be unacceptable and doesn’t deserve any second
chances.

All we can do is make guesses. There are many variables involved. Your electrologist needs to see your pictures. She is the one who is touching and treating you close up in real time. Please work with her. It may be very helpful. The best thing you can do is emphasize that you do not want large scabs all over your face, as opposed to telling her to use certain levels or certain probes… The best thing she can do is change her strategy?, switch modality?, try different probes?, fiddle with the intensity and timing? She may ask you to check out other electrologists if she thinks you are being unrealistic about healing. I don’t know?

Yup I did just talk to her and heres the skinny jeans which was very disappointing to hear. She told me that she actually used her analog machine on me instead of the apilus platinum coz on the day I came, there was an issue with the computerized part of the apilus.

That just doesnt make sense to me, why would you use one machine during my test patch and then use another for the actual treatment. I said next time we need to stick to what machine was used for testing. Whats the point of the test patch if you are not going to use the same machine. She thought that it would be ok coz she felt that the apilus is just a glorified version of her analog.

Ill give it a second chance, ill do a test patch on the upper lip which she should do for free and if the red spots go away, she can finish on the chin area on the hair that wasnt treated. Thats my plan for now. Thanks for everyones patience and feedback. It was just a frustrating experience.

Maybe she doesn’t have a high-end Apilus or doesn’t know how to use it.

There was an electrologist who pulled a similar thing on a UK HairTell client… suffice to say she did not return.

Is there a way for me to check the machine? Is that ethical if I asked to see the machine? Im sure theres somewhere in the machine that would say apilus platinum right?

Does anyone have any recommendations for chicago electrologists who are tried and tested and can be trusted???

The machine looks like it is in Dallas Cowboy’s Silver and Blue and has the name Apilus Platinum below the display window, on the left hand side, when facing the machine.
