Male, need removal of facial hair

When the electrologist uses the tweezer to remove the hair after treatmet, you should not feel it come out.

In laser treatment the hair is destroyed and sheds, but the hair follicle remains. Proper electrolysis destroys the hair follicle and therefore hair can no longer grow. that the big difference!

Depending on the type of hair, amount of hair, skin sensitivity, and your personal pain sensitivity are all related to the amount of time it will take to thin out you hair problem.

You will be happy !

Ok here I go…

I had my consultation last week and had a couple trial hairs removed, not so bad. The swelling went away within hours, which was great. I wonder if that will be the case with many hairs in a dense area.

Also, a small red dot was left where the pore remained even days after the hair was removed. It was not noticable by itself, although 100 of them will be noticable. I’m going Saturday, which means I have Sunday to hide my shame. Praying Monday will be ok.

I am really impressed by my electrologist. She seems very thorough and was right in line with everything you guys said. And also the missed appointment was my fault <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" />. When I told her all I wanted was a thinning, she said she does that first with all patients with dense areas before clearing. This was comforting, I was worried about an unnatural look.

One more thing:

She removed 3 hairs, all of which took 2 attempts(zaps, shocks, whatever) before they could be removed easily by tweezer. Do most hairs usually take more than one attempt?

I THINK it is because of your hair is coarse, and thick.
This hair usually have a deep root.

There is a certain amount of treatment energy that will perfectly remove a hair. You have many different types of hair to remove. Electrologists work in stages, going for the most coarse and work down from there. If, for instance, your practitioner is working on medium sized hairs, and she/he comes across a thicker, coarser type of hair, one has the choice of stopping treatment, and resetting the treatment energy, or double zapping those hairs.

One doesn’t want to have to change the setting every 3 minutes, but one also doesn’t want to pass by hairs that are the select few that are thicker than the treatment energy you have on the machine without treating them while you are working that area already anyway.

One would not want to make double insertions on every hair anyway.

Thanks Doc.

Ok guys I went Sat. @12:00 pm. She thinned out the outside half of each side of my upper lip. The swelling was HUGE. I was a little shocked, I hope she didn’t notice.

She gave me hydrogen peroxide and some neosporin and home I went. The swelling left little by little till Monday morning. By then there was just red dots. I was able to shave and put a little makeup on to hide the red; acceptable but not great. This morning not much improvement.

I assume the red dots will go away in another day or two. My question: What can I do to help these go away faster next time? I have seen the customary treatements posted here(tree oil, witch hazel, etc). The swelling doesn’t seem to be a problem, but the tiny scabbing and dots is. Which treatment helps that the most?

The Tea Tree Oil helps the body to seal and heal the wound fast. It also wards off infection, and dissolves puss, and necrotic tissue, should you produce any. One should also try to keep from sweating while the treatment area is open, as that will irritate it, cause red dots, and scabbing.

One can use Aloe during the day to continue the healing, without a scent that some find offensive.

Appt. #2: Sat. @ 3:00pm.

This time I tried the tea tree oil Sat and Sun night. Doesn’t seem to be much different. When I shave I noticed the red scabs come off, as if I’ve picked them. I know this must be bad, but I have no choice but to shave in the morning. Next time I’ll make an appt. on Friday so I can give almost 3 days w/out shaving.

Any advice much welcome as always.

Thanks,
Tortoise

While the treatment area is healing, you may want to shave with an electric. I do this on my chest and armpits and it works out great, it keeps the irritation down.

Now I know why my practitioner does a double zap every once in awhile. My settings are already pretty high. Doing the double zap is like using a longer pulse width with laser LOL! I can see where the double zap would save treatment time rather than changing the settings.

typically, one wants to go at least 24 hours without shaving after treatment. 72 hours would be ideal.
