Laser results after 1 session

Silvamela: There is a relatively inexpensive clinic that I go to and I am quite happy with them. They don’t offer touch ups either, but they are also much more thorough so they don’t miss as much (knock on wood). They are called Coastline Dermatology. But I don’t know if they have the type of diode you’re using. I only ever have them use a GentleLASE on me.

I can PM you the place I go to for my legs so you can be sure to avoid them. I am really unhappy with everything they’ve done. They lied to me many times about their touch-up policies and their prices. And tricked me into charging my card before telling my that the packages was reduced from 6 sessions to 4 sessions since they last told me about it. I had to threaten to file a CC claim before they compromised and gave me 5 sessions (and that was before “missed hair” incident and then ignoring my calls for weeks).

I have no patience for that place anymore.

Settings are not only joules. All variables need adjusting. And you shouldn’t have to direct them. It sounds like whoever is treating you is inexperienced.

I think they will be a lot more willing to work with your concerns if you asked for your money back (and threaten to dispute the charge with the credit card). I wasn’t able to get a refund from my credit card for one treatment I tried at one clinic where I got almost no shedding. It depends on your card, but they may want a written statement from another clinic saying this isn’t normal.

Do they have other technicians there? Anyone more experienced you can ask for?

I think the Scripps Clinic was recommended in San Diego in the past. You can run a search on the forum for the city name and find past threads with recommendations.

Thanks everybody who answered, again.
Today I called 2 more places, one of them is the Scripps Clinic. I was shocked by their prices: for full leg, one quoted $700 (Scripps), the other one $1300 per session.
I currently pay $300 per session, but package of 6 prepaid. The purpose of my call was not getting quotes actually but see what they say about shedding between sessions. None said firmly that you should experince most of your hair fall off, they kind of bit the bush around the corner as well, with the same story that it depends on the hair growth cicle etc. SO it looks like it migh not be easy to get a statement from another clinique that my results are abnormal.
At same time, I did more internet research on hair growth, and it says that most of your hair (75%-80%) is in active phase at a time. By that logic, if the treatment was effective, this hair should be shedded.
It almost seems to me that I am out of options and best I can do ask for a intensity increase on my next appointment. God, $1300 per session, what are they thinking???
I could attached a picture if you guys can bear to take a look (it ain’t pretty, I just didn’t find a way to attach).
THANKS!

MagicPrices,
I looked online at Coastline Dermatology, they are about 1h drive for me. Can you tell me anythign about the price for legs (full)? I have skin type III I think so most of lasers should work I suppose…
Are you pretty hapy with them so far?
Thanks.

Yeah, those prices are high. Did you read the third link below? There are links within to find clinics with the right lasers near you by plugging in your zip code. There are tons of clinics in SD.

And yes, clinics tend to not promise much because they don’t want to be held accountable for it. Many would rather undertreat and avoid potential lawsuits for burns. It’s easy to dismiss not getting you results by blaming it on your hair, underlying hormonal issues, etc. It’s a lot harder to be knowledgeable and be able to turn down those who aren’t good candidates. People love money too much.

Coastline Dermatology charges $200 for half leg, so full should be something around $400 or less and the 4th treatment is always free. So if you have four treatments with them you are technically only paying $300 per treatment.

You don’t have to prepay for a package to qualify for the free 4th session, they just keep track in your file. They give you free numbing cream too. It’s a pretty good deal.

Thanks a lot MagicalP! And you did see most of hair fell off between sessions, right? Now lets see if I can get my money back from my place…

Everything shed. I had 100% shedding except for an area they missed once. But it was a small area, and they are normally very thorough. Based on my experiences, I think missed parts would be a rare issue from the tech who treated me. I can give you her name if you’d like (there are two laser techs who work there).

MagicalPrincess,
Thanks a lot, that sounds great and gives me hopes that there are places out there that can be both reasonably priced and do a good job…I need to call my “doctor” today and do some negociation.
Thanks a million!
