Laser in London: Advice Needed

May I ask, how do you know the Elite MPX is a good machine?

I’m sure you are right and I’ll definitely be having a consultation at that clinic. Hopefully it can be used on my skin type, which I think is between type III and IV.

EDIT: When I get spot tests, I will write down the settings and report back. Settings mean absolutely nothing to me at the moment. When it comes to any kind of technology, I’m a bit lost, to say the least!

I found out that the salon which was recommended to me use an Ellipse IPL, so I won’t bother having a consultation there.

We know it’s a good machine because it’s the successor to the Apogee Elite which is one of the best as well. The Apogee Elite is an alexandrite and yag combined into one, so you can use either. GentleLASE is a bit better because it has a fixed 3ms pulse width (lower is said to be better for hair removal) and has an 18mm spot size. The Apogee Elite has a 15mm spot size so bit smaller, but has an adjustable pulse width going as low as 5 (but seems like most places go much higher like 20).

The MPX gives the 18mm spot size of the GentleLASE but has the new technology to fire alexandrite and yag at the same time. Unless the cost is obscene, I wouldn’t even consider anything else if I had that machine available!

I also know it would be good as I’ve had many treatments with Apogee Elite (see my signature) and had amazing results. So the MPX is even better so I’d assume even better results.

It’s a good machine because of the specs it has. We know what the specs mean, thus we know it’s good  Of course, the machine is only as good as the person using it since they’re the ones setting those settings.

I don’t think the clinic has the Elite MPX after all! They advertise it on their site, but refer to one of their branches, a branch which hasn’t actually opened yet. When it opens, I presume it will have the MPX.

I will probably get a consultation with them regardless, as they have a Candela GentleLASE and GentleYAG. I will call them next week and find out what’s going on.

Those are good machines and it’s good that they have both instead of tryng to treat everyone with one even if they’re not a good fit.

When you go in, just ask them to write down the spot size and joules they would use on you. And for GentleYAG, pulse width as well. On GentleLase it’s fixed at 3ms.

I certainly will ask for those things, LA Girl, and I will report back to you. None of those things mean anything to me so hopefully you can explain all to me when the time comes. Thanks so much.

Where do you go in London?

I haven’t been anywhere yet. My back was waxed (sugared) last week, so i’m waiting for it to grow out a bit before having consultations.

Based on the advise given on this site, I’m going to visit a few clinics. Renew Medica, The Private Clinic, and Sk:n.

I would be greatful for any other recommendations if you have any.
