No one has condemned the AEA. I believe history has and always will determine their legacy. “Kittens” might sharpen their nails on “lies” but full grown “cats” like using their claws to shread each other’s flesh (and it’s all fair game).
Oh yes … Jossie “is the one!” I strive to be more like her. And, I mostly fail in the attempt. It’s her heart: as pure as St. Francis’.
YES, of course talk about machines and needles … that’s what we do. But blatant self-promotion on Hairtell is often unambiguous with (only) a couple folks, but it’s annoying. Nicely, I think everyone “sees through it,” but most are more tolerant of the self-promoters than I am. I really don’t think there is a place for: “We make the best needles in the world” … even if you DO! Calling yourself a “God” seems a bit much? I just can’t buy it (even if it’s true?).
A clear actual illustration of the facts (like our Jossie does) is not self-promotion, but tangible education. Her success is based on fact, not grandiose statements with nothing to back it up. She is a hard worker and the “salt of our industry.” (Can I say I truly like her too? Well, more than “like.”)
The new website is going to have a “showcase” section so all of us can EASILY show what electrolysis does. NOT attempting to show that one system or operator is better than the other, but showing the public what a great system WE have: ELECTROLYSIS. Clients want to see what we do and are pretty immune to “chest pounding.” I’m ready, and it’s long overdo.
All of us pulling in the same direction … not trying to “pull business in our direction.” These is plenty of hair for all of us!
I think mentioning products that one uses and likes is detailed information that is helpful to the consumer and other electrologists who have open and inquiring minds. I have personally pleaded for other practitioners to share their good news, with their detailed information about their strategies and equipment of choice. If someone says they make the best probes (not needles) in the world, then if they do, that will settle when many use that particular probe and do the compare and contrast thingy. No doubt, you are referring to the Laurier IBP, but wanted to be diplomatic and not mention it by name, no? We should fear not when brand names are mentioned as being lovely tools of the trade. Curious minds will sort it out and I give credit to electrologists who try these products to be honest in their appraisal of these products.
The consumer is the final judge and as the final judge, they will be the ones determining who gets their money and loyalty, based on SKILL first, but very close to that SKILL, includes strategies with equipment / tools used. It is about market principles and the best treatment outcome in the end. Protecting ones territory for the sake of protecting ones territory can only go so far. Consumers will always give honest feedback if they are given choices and we should be talking about choices here in as much detail as possible. If I praise the merits of using a Ballet or Laurier probe, I am doing so honestly. I am sharing with the consumer and my colleagues. Being vague, makes this a useless consumer site. Others may share in detail what they know is true.
As for the "self-promoter and “god” inference, it is my understanding that James refers to himself that way because there is an inside story behind that “god” word which is “humorous”. He doesn’t really think he is a “god”. He is actually a very humble man. I don’t know who else you would be referring to, so excuse me if I am assuming you were referencing James’ profile.
Thanks for your help Dee! I’m very nervous about this whole thing and I realise that it is an investment that is permanent in more ways than one, so I’m trying to make sure I go in with my eyes wide open and with realistic expectations. I’m wary trusting the salons as I have no way of knowing who I will get really, and whether they are actually any good. But I appreciate the advice and will continue to scour these threads while I debate what to do!
Lots of Love.
