Legs tend to get some pepperspots. Exfoliating helps with all shedding.
One thing that has been bugging me is if the pulse width is good enough. My Google research hasn’t yieled anything. I don’t want them to be undertreating me with the Alex if they could be treating me better with a YAG.
So far still experiencing shedding!
Update
So I went for a touch session last week on upper legs, lower arms, and undearms.
The owner was not happy with the amount of missed spots. They were pretty obvious since I hadn’t touched the area at all with a razor. So they decided to re-do the entire areas! I pretty much had 100% shedding on the areas they didn’t miss but they missed several spots so I had strips of hairs that stood out big time.
Also, they threw in a touch up on my lower legs for free! : ) Hopefully I’ll be able to get rid of those hairs they didn’t get in my previous laser treatments and new hair growth since it had been 2.5 years since my last treatment.
Right now all areas are looking good. Hairs continue to fall off.
The area that was treated during the test-patch has a considerable amount of pepper spots, alot more than any other area. So I am guessing it is the dead hairs making their way to the surface and it would make sense that area would have more since it was treated 3 weeks prior to the treatment of all other areas.
You shouldn’t do laser when you’re using photosensitive medications and I believe that’s one of them. It creates bigger chances for burning.
Yeah, I figured this out. That’s why I am not treating any area around my face. I am using topical Retin-A-Micro in that area only. The laser clinic I go to said I would have to stop using it for 3 weeks if I want to treat my face.
However, if I were taking any oral photosensitive medication such as Accutane, then I couldn’t do any area of my body. And I would have to stop using it for 6 months until I can do laser.
I am trying to figure out when I should start seeing new hair growth–not for appointment scheduling (since I plan on going when there is enough hair), but just out of curiousity!
October 15- small test patch done
Exactly 3 weeks later- all areas treated
3 weeks later- touch up treatment- all areas re-done
On Friday, it will be 2 weeks since the touch up, 5 weeks since the intial treatment, and 8 weeks since the testpatch.
So approximately when should I see new hair growth?
Will I see new hair growth in the test patch area earlier?
Do I start the countdown after the touch up?
Thanks for all your help!
Update- hairs are still making their way to the surface-pepperspots are falling off.
I wouldn’t worry about it. When the new hair cycle kicks in, it will show up. All depends on the area treated.
I’m not worried. I just want to know!
So unfortunately I was waiting to see enough hair to schedule my appointment, by the time I called, the earliest they could see me was Feb 21st.
By the time I go, it will be almost 16 weeks since the initial treatment and about 12.5 weeks since the areas were re-done due to patchiness.
How badly will this affect my treatment?
I didn’t go earlier because there really wasn’t that much hair growing.
People cancel all the time. It’s not the end of the world since you had a touchup, but you can call and check on cancellations earlier.
Thanks, I’ll try. I’ve been calling but so far no luck.
What could be the negative result of waiting too long? Does that mean that when I do go most of the hair will be in the resting phase?
Yes.
Update:
Finally got around to having my second “official” session an all areas. Technically it is my third since the entire areas were re-treated during a touch up after a patchy treatment.
*Upper Legs
*3/4 Arms
*Underarms
*Added Bikini area- OUCH!!! Worst pain ever. Hope it is worth it.
*Last time I did a touch up on my lower legs since I had some hairs left/new growth after ending laser in 5/2008. I did not treat this area again since I barely had about 5-10 hairs left per leg. I am waiting to see if anything more comes up during the next 6 months so that I can treat at that time.
I am hoping I do not have to go back for a touch up but I will if I have to.
Some concerns- when the tech was done doing one arm she noticed she missed some spots since she was seeing no reaction from my skin- so she did the missed area again. That area is the only area didn’t go back to normal this morning- I have small red dots and it is a little sensitive to the touch. It looks like inflamation. Normal or not normal?
Also one area has a light black dot. I didn’t have a birthmark or mole there before… is that normal? could it be a burn? will it go away?
During the treatment I literally saw hair being ejected from the follicle. It was CRAZY!! Where those pepperspots coming out?
Thanks!

Anything that’s gone within about 3 days is fine.
-
Some hairs come out right during treatment. This is normal.

5-10 hairs really need electrolysis at this point
Since it has been almost a year since I started my treatments with the Alexandrite Laser, I thought I would post an update.
So far I’ve had 5 laser sessions with 4 touch ups 2-3 weeks after each appointment. Just had my 5th session so I haven’t had a touch up yet.
I am treating underarms, upper leg, bikini, and lower arms.
I wait a little longer than 8 weeks between treatments because my leg hair takes about 10-12 weeks to grow back.
I’ve seen good results in all areas! I am happy with the results and happy with the treatment center.
Although I am a little bummed out that I still have enough hair left that I have to shave it.
However, I will say that it has been a great year since after each appointment, I am hair free for weeks. Then slowly the next cyle of hair shows up, each time there is less hair.
Of course, ever since the first treatment, I’ve never been as hairy as I was before.
I can definitely see a reduction! And since I am hardly shaving, my skin feels great (no ingrowns- YAY!).
I was worried that laser would not work on my arms- but it seems like it is working.
I am not sure how many more sessions I will have, but I hope to stop soon.
I know I can’t get rid of all of it, but hopefully I will be able to reduce it as much as I can with laser.
Also- the 2 treatments I had on my lower legs with the Alexandrite pretty much take care of all the hair that was left after my previous Lightsheer treatments. I am happy about that.
Well, that’s pretty much it.
Ok so I went to another laser appt today.
I am happy with the results on the upper leg so I stopped after 5 sessions. But I was still not completely happy with arms and underarms so I went back. This would be my 6th treatment in arms and my 4th in underarms.
I just don’t know what to think. My usual tech was not there. So I got someone else. These are the settings she used:
Machine: Lightage Epicare Duo, 755nm wavelength, 15 Joules, 20 ms pulse duration, 2 Hz pulse rate, 15 mm spot size. For some reason she switched me to 15 mm spot size when I had been getting treated at 18 mm. Anyone have any input on these settings? Just need someone to tell me to stop worrying.
Thanks.
