I see, so the hair that came out was regrowth?
I hope to G-d that the next round of growth doesn’t wind up ingrown then…

I absolutely did not have ingrown hairs in the test area.
None whatsoever. They came after my electrolysis treatments.
I shouldn’t have to document my case in a series of before/afters.
These bumps are clustered together in such an obviously unnatural formation. Its not as if I am waxing/shaving this one random half-dollar size spot on my forearm.
I’d rather not subject myself to further ingrown hairs, simply to satisfy your curiosity but I plan on seeing a couple of different electrologists in the future as a last effort to see if that may be the independent variable here.
My current electrologist is a lovely person and only wanted to help me but its not working out - either because electrolysis isn’t right for my skin and hair type and characteristics of fast hair growth or whatever, or because the modality is not well-suited.
I had virtually no ingrown hair problems on my upper arms, but at the same time - it seems as though most of the hair has grown back anyway. [/quote]
Or because you are having poorly performed electrolysis! All the evidence you have provided (no prior ingrowns, hairs being extracted from the bumps a month later, most of the hairs on your upper arm having returned) all strongly suggest this.
To me, the fact you didn’t have these issues from Dee’s test patch is further proof.
Properly performed electrolysis means no (or very, very little) true regrowth.
I still had regrowth, but thankfully no side effects.
There’s a difference between true regrowth and false regrowth.
If they were tomstones they wouldn’t need taking out at all. The difference between ingrowns and tombstones to my knowledge please correct me is.
If you scratched the surface of the hair and took all the top level of skin off to see the full hair it would just fall out on its own by brushing it away with your hand.
I epilate my legs and I get a mixture from time to time, an ingrown hair is still attached to the root but stuck under the skin. The electrolysis would need to zap these after taking off the layer in the way. Often both can be freed with a gentle exfoliate but obviously not right after electrolysis treatment leave it a couple of days first. She wouldn’t need to pull or zap a tombstone where as an ingrown hair would need to be zapped and gentley taken out not pulled.
It is not always so.
