In dire need of an advice

Thanks for your responses. I have been having a very hectic week. Maybe the best thing is for me to post some photos so you see what I am talking about. I will try tomorrow. LAgirl if you have links to people who had serious induced growth ( with Gentlelease not IPL) please let me know. Given the uncertainty I think I will postpone my Laser treatment for my face and start with back and hsoulders next week.
The lectrologist, Sally, if I remember well lives/works in Baltimore which is really 2 hours from here (taking into account after work traffic).
Many thanks

Run an advanced search on the forum for “induced hair” and you’ll see dozens of posts. It happens with ALL lasers and IPLs. The key is treating hair that’s not coarse enough. That’s why it happens. The machine used is not a factor.

I took some pics today and I think it will be useful to share. It just shows how dense and thick is the hair above my beard line. It’s disturbing. I am now having problems downloading them on my PC but will try again later and will post a link.

On another note, I just noticed yesterday that the spot test laser was successful in that I had shedding and for the first time I have a spot on my face that is quite hair free.

I also noticed that the skin on and around the laser treatment has improved in terms of decreased pores not sure what else. I was wondering whether this is the effect of Gentlelease.

Upload them to www.photobucket.com and post the provided HTML tags here in your post.

2 weeks and 3 days have passed since my Laser for back and shoulder. Procedure took about 1h20min and was done with Gentlase at 14j. It hurt a lot especially in some place.

2 weeks after my hair hasn’t fall. It looks dead. Some of it must have fell. But a lot of it is really still at the same level as the day of my procedure. It seems to me the laser was successful but these shaved hair need something to push them out. I used a clipper on 3-4 of them and they can be taken out with no resistance. IS THIS NORMAL ? OR should I expect them to fall alone completely ?

MANY THANKS for this great and active forum again.

You can start exfoliating to help them out. The hair is dead, so you don’t really need to worry. It sounds like you have pepperspots right now, which is normal. They will fall out on its own with time or will be burned off at your next treatment. The most important thing is that the hair is not growing as usual.

Thanks Lagirl.
what woories me about this laser adventure is:

  • the fact I have to hide from girls for a while (girls who might see me shirtless that is) because it looks like I just shaved my back. And if I have to do 6 treatments or more it seems like I have to hide for a year !

  • second: you think the practitioner would be able to blend it so I don’t look like I am wearing some shirt or something ? My arms are still hairy (she didn’t do them yet). Anyone know/have the experience whether it is possible to mildly treat the arms so this thing can blend nicer. If it does my first problem would be lesser too.

MANY THANKS

This wouldn’t be like this for all 6 treatments. After a treatment or two, you shouldn’t have that many noticeable pepperspots, if any. Often, pepperspots are there because the hair is not super coarse. Do you know how to exfoliate? Try it to help hair out. It should help.

The only blending they can do is basically to treat the other area too.

This is bad news for me. Because I am hairy all over. This means I would have to do all my body which is out of the question of course. I mean if she does the upper arms then the problem becomes the area between the arms and upper arms and so on… but I can’t do my arms ! I am a guy.

I thought she would be able to in a way laser an area “less fully” by either doing it less often 3 treatments out of 6 or some other way …

That’s what I meant. You can treat an area only two times instead of 6-8 if you just want a reduction to blend things in.

Read Osh’s story at this link. He successfully blended areas: http://www.cosmeticenhancementsforum.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=3909

So I had 2 treatments for now. I have a question unfortunately:

10 days ago or so, during my second treatment, I think she must have missed some spots. This is probably due to the pain !!
But I really need to be clear in 10 days from now. Can I go and have electrolysis done on the hairs that will be sticking out still in a week from now ? (theoretically the rest should be shed by then )

You need to wait full 3 weeks for shedding to complete. After that, you should ask for a touchup on any area that was missed, if mroe than 10% or so was missed.

So here is an update:
I have been going for LHR for my back and chest, 4 times so far since last June. I think I did June, August, October, and December. The Technician is using a 14j on me; i have a fair/middle-eastern complexion and very dark thick hair everywhere. She said 16j is a def. a possibility and I am considering trying this, although the pain is sometimes unbearable. Oh, and it’s a GentleLase, but gentle doesn’t enter into it of course.

I am not sure how to rate my experience so far, the technician herself is unsure about my success. On my third appointment in October I was quite happy, hair barely showed any significant regrowth and I must say I love being smooth on my shoulders and back, so I got used to it. But when left 2 more months without laser, hair grew back again thick and strong except in some small areas. If pain was not that bad i would definitely go up to 16 at least on a test area to see if there are any additional benefits. I will keep you posted. Any thoughts ?

thanks.

Are they using the 18mm spot size? I would recommend not to use anything under 16J on 18mm if your skin can handle it.
