Thank you Michael.

I think Margaret Mead is attributed with coining that phrase.

Good choice Arlene!

I think this is going to be a very weird episode when its finally resolved. I appreciate the very kind remarks of Jossie and Arlene. We have already discovered a few more interesting tid bits.
I’ve always had a “cause” it seems. The fight is not yet out of me. Any type of injustice for self-aggrandizement is my “Kryptonite.” Self-promoters … YUCK! Glad to see Herman Cain (Republican candidate) “eating dirt.” He’s my poster boy for the egocentric man, at the moment. Now, THAT’S a piece of work!
Thanks to you all for staying on top of this. The best way I do what I can when I see an article or an ad for something that I know to be completely bogus, misleading and a falsehood, (RE: Electrolysis) is to find any option button to 'WRITE A REVIEW" or RATE THIS COMPANY OR PRODUCT or even “READER COMMENTS” Click and say what needs to be said to set the record straight. You can state your name and credentials or stay anonymous. When people are googling, they read everything they can before they make that first phone call. We need to be sure they are getting the facts.
The evolution of this thread is truly astounding. Well done everyone for exposing the truth.
Thanks Christine. We all need to support each other because our numbers are small. We know what happened here and attacks on electrolysis have been going on for many years and will continue happening. This article has been rebuffed as fraudulant through hairtell and the social media, so many people are going to know this is pure poo poo. Good News! I got a private message tonight from Herman Cain. He said since he has nothing to do now, he would be glad to approach Shelley Haas, buy her a latte and kindly educate her about electrolysis.
Expert, I saw you are from Ohio. Have we met at any of our continuing ed courses? I think your ideas are most helpful and offer a very reasonable approach.
One of my mentors once attempted to set up a situation where responsible electrolysis practitioners could collectively work together to counteract this kind of smear campaign with appearances on shows like LIVE! with Regis & Kathy Lee or Kelly, Good morning America, and what ever media outlets that are not sold out totally to those who seek to smear electrolysis.
Those efforts were under-appreciated.
I think you are talking about the great, great, great Fino Gior. I will offer a belated thank-you to him right here and now for all his POSITIVE efforts to educate hair consumers. Why was he under-appreciated for this?
I seldom talk about my “famous cousin,” but he always had a way to really simplify issues. For example, I once asked him his position on “illegal immigration.” His answer was: “Well, Michael, it’s ‘illegal,’ right?” How can you argue with that?
I don’t remember the date or episode, but they were getting some really bad press. He explained it like this:
When you are starting out and becoming successful, you have the full support of the public. People love the “winning underdog.”
When you really make it “to the top,” well, then folks begin to think “you’re not really ‘all that’.” Then, they try to tear you down.
After you retire, or die, then they look back and discover “how great you were.” Maybe you weren’t so great, but the story continues to get bigger and bigger.
It’s a natural progression. Fino experienced it; so did Terri Petricca. We are now looking fondly “backward” at Jimmy Carter and Richard Nixon! But, at the time? (I don’t think Hitler or Stalin will ever be fondly remembered … well, not by the majority.)
Yes, James, I remember reading a comment from Mr. Gior when he was part of Hairtell for a little while. it was about his efforts to assert the futility of electric tweezers. Consumers never really know what he did for them. Apparently he did not have enough support among our group. Too bad he decided not to participate further. By the way, his website must be the most visited during that time.
Excellent information there. Do you know if Mr. Gior continues to enjoy good health? It would be great to continue counting on his experience in Hairtell, luckily, our profession has another great “heavyweight”, the great, great, great Michael Bono.
[size:14pt]Eternally grateful, Mr.Gior!!![/size]
Jossie, you’re gonna have to stop that!
(check is in the mail, by the way … )
All I want to see in the mail is your new book as you have promised.
In return, I solemnly promise to keep the mouth closed… but only until tomorrow.
Thanks to dfahey and everyone for looking into this. The examiner is what is known online as a content farm, where low-quality crap can be published by anyone, and the site owner benefits form advertising. The more outrageous claims do better, because crazy headlines get the best click rate.
Examiner.com is blacklisted as a source on most trustworthy sites. Anyone can put up anything there.
Unfortunately, I did not have time to read all pages, maybe it was already discussed, but I after was thinking about whether LASER of bikini/full bikini area can really cause infertility?
I will say no. The energy cannot go that deep and the energy is not even concentrated over the ovaries, if we are talking about females.
I thought I will share my experience on the laser causing infertility subject. I had been doing laser for roughly 40 hrs a week for 3 yrs and had been having full legs, bikini and underarm treatments on myself when I fell pregnant with my son without trying. I was one of the newbees at the time in the clinic. We all got pregnant in the same year, 7 of us. And half of us were trying hard not to get pregnant at the time. We have all had at least 6 tmts in our bikini area. To this day I often have to extend the expiry date on courses due to my clients getting pregnant in the middle of their treatment plan. So it sounds unreasonable to me for someone to claim that laser causes infertility.
I think it is safe to say that ELECTROLYSIS DOES NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY
and LASER HAIR REDUCTION DOES NOT CAUSE INFERTILITY. Let’s not prolong such conjecture about either modality.
